REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik today visited Dera Baba to review the ongoing restoration works and interacted with the families affected due to land sinking in the area.

The DC informed that all affected families have been safely evacuated and shifted to a relief camp, where necessary facilities including ration, electricity, drinking water, and other essential relief material have been provided. She also inspected the damaged houses in Dera Baba village and directed the Tehsildar to fast-track genuine relief cases under SDRF norms to ensure immediate assistance to the victims.

During her visit to Mansoo village, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the situation where several houses were inundated due to the overflowing of the Nallah. The water level had risen above the road, causing water to enter people’s homes.

The Deputy Commissioner listened to the grievances of the residents, who raised issues regarding the recurring problem. She directed the Flood and Irrigation Department to work out proper mechanisms and explore possible solutions. The Deputy Commissioner assured the villagers that necessary steps will be taken and due consideration will be given to the affected people once the department finalizes remedial measures.

The DC assessed the crop damage in the agriculture sector and instructed the concerned department to carry out an immediate assessment of losses so that relief can be provided to the affected farmers at the earliest.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment to stand with the affected families and ensure that all possible support and timely relief reaches them without delay.
