POONCH:  District Development Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal chaired a meeting today to assess the implementation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in the district. The Scheme was launched by the Government of India in July 2021  to enhance the quality and reliability of power supply to consumers through operational efficiency in the distribution system and minimizing Aggregated Transmission and Distribution Losess.

The Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed division-wise review, focusing on key components of the RDSS, including metering, distribution infrastructure, project management, and other related activities. The meeting discussed the physical progress of work, the replacement of damaged electric poles, survey activities, feeder bifurcation, the implementation plan across Electric Divisions etc.

Emphasis was laid on to mobilize resources effectively, urging all stakeholders to undertake activities in parallel to expedite the RDSS implementation. The DDC stressed that all ongoing works must be completed within the established timelines to ensure the overall improvement of the power supply scenario in Poonch.

Furthermore, he directed concerned officers to foster coordination during surveys and resolve any technical issues promptly to prevent delays. The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the Executive Engineer to inspect sites personally and ensure quality improvements in electricity supply, particularly in remote areas. The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of providing high-quality power to consumers and called for responsible behavior from both DISCOMS and consumers to achieve the desired outcomes of the scheme.
