JAMMU: BJP State Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir, Pawan Sharma has come down heavily on the Congress party for its deafening silence over the recent incident of insult to India’s revered National Emblem in Kashmir. He said this deliberate silence is not accidental but speaks volumes about Congress’s mindset, which repeatedly compromises national interest for petty political calculations.

“An attack on the National Emblem is an attack on the very sovereignty and identity of the Republic of India. It is a criminal act under the State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act, 2005, yet the Congress party, which claims to have given ‘freedom’ to the country, has chosen to look the other way. Their silence is nothing short of complicity,” Sharma stated.

Lashing out at the Congress leadership, Sharma questioned, “Why is Congress mute when the honour of the nation is attacked? Is their vote-bank more important than the honour of Bharat Mata? Their silence clearly signals tacit approval of such anti-national activities.”

Taking a direct dig at Rahul Gandhi, Sharma remarked, “At a time when the nation’s honour has been insulted in Kashmir, Rahul Gandhi, instead of standing with the people of India, is busy enjoying a foreign vacation. The so-called leader of Congress is missing in action whenever the nation faces a crisis. His silence abroad mirrors his party’s silence at home.”

He reminded that the National Emblem is not just an official seal but the very spirit of India’s Constitution, a symbol of sacrifice of countless martyrs, and the pride of every Indian. “For Congress to ignore such an insult is an unforgivable betrayal of the nation. Those who cannot defend the dignity of the National Emblem have no moral right to lecture the people on democracy or nationalism,” he said.

Sharma demanded that Congress must break its silence and publicly clarify its stand before the people of India. “The people of this nation are watching. By staying quiet, Congress has already exposed itself. But if it continues to remain silent, it will stand guilty in the court of public opinion,” he warned.

Calling for stringent action, Sharma urged law enforcement agencies to ensure that those guilty of insulting the National Emblem face the strictest possible punishment. He appealed to the people to see through Congress’s double standards and reject leaders who compromise on the honour of the nation for the sake of appeasement politics.

“For the BJP, the honour of the nation stands above everything. But for Congress, political survival—and Rahul Gandhi’s leisure trips—stand above national pride. The people must decide whether they want leaders who protect the nation’s honour, or those who remain absent when that honour is attacked,” concluded Sharma.
