• Rising fire incidents serious concern; Peer Bilal

SRINAGAR: Senior DPAP leader Peer Bilal is advocating for a significant increase in financial assistance to fire victims in Kashmir. He argues that the current compensation of Rs 1.35 lakhs for fully damaged houses and Rs 7,500 for partially damaged ones is grossly inadequate, considering the rising market rates. Bilal proposes increasing the compensation to Rs 15 lakhs for fully damaged houses and Rs 10 lakhs for partially damaged ones.

Additionally, Bilal demands a substantial increase in immediate relief to fire victims from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000 for fully damaged houses, to be provided from the Red Cross Fund. This demand highlights the urgent need for more substantial support to help fire victims recover from their losses and rebuild their lives. Besides it free timber and six months ration may also be provided to the fire victims.
