The Survival Fight of JK Monitor : For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.), who treated me like a brother and mentor. His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. JAMMU: Former Member of the Legislative Council, Shri Girdhari Lal Raina, today highlighted several important issues and suggestions concerning the forthcoming annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra during his interaction with Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and CEO of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Dr. Mandeep Bhandari.

While appreciating the commendable efforts of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) in enhancing pilgrim facilities, strengthening security arrangements, and improving infrastructure at key locations such as Baltal and Nandiwan, Shri Raina emphasized the need for further improvements to ensure an even more seamless and spiritually enriching experience for devotees.

He underlined the importance of introducing structured feedback mechanisms—both online and offline—to improve transparency and responsiveness in the functioning of the Board. Highlighting staffing concerns, he suggested the creation of a dedicated cadre of regular employees to ensure year-round maintenance and optimal utilization of the extensive infrastructure developed along the Yatra route.

Shri Raina also stressed the need to revive the engagement of reputed Shaiva scholars to promote authentic knowledge about the spiritual and cultural significance of the Holy Shrine. Additionally, he recommended strengthening the official website of SASB through regular updates and enriched content to better serve pilgrims and stakeholders.

In view of changing climatic conditions and technological advancements, he further proposed exploring the possibility of gradually extending the Yatra beyond its traditional seasonal window in a phased and sustainable manner, drawing parallels with the successful evolution of other major pilgrimages in the country.

Shri Raina expressed confidence that these suggestions, offered in a constructive spirit, would contribute to the continued success, better management, and global stature of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
