THE SILENCE OF A NEWSROOM: THE SURVIVAL FIGHT OF JK MONITOR: For sixteen years, JK Monitor has stood as an unwavering digital chronicle of Jammu and Kashmir—giving voice to the voiceless, highlighting grassroots triumphs, and upholding journalistic integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its operations as Editor-in-Chief. Yet, behind every headline stood our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. A VISIONARY BLUEPRINT & MENTOR : Dr. Ranjan was an intellectual powerhouse—an alumnus of Netarhat, an IIT Kharagpur engineer, and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. He founded JK Monitor not for clickbait, but to empower communities through authentic public discourse. He embraced me as a younger brother with warmth, trust, and continuous mentorship, guiding us through complex regional landscapes. OCTOBER 2026: A SUDDEN SILENCE: Our bedrock shifted irrevocably in October 2026 with Dr. Ranjan's sudden, tragic demise. For a real-time news portal, losing its visionary architect was catastrophic. Overnight, our newsroom lost its heartbeat, and the financial vacuum brought daily operations to an agonizing standstill. A LEGACY HANGING BY A THREAD: Today, we face a critical crossroads. Struggling to cover basic operational costs, our 24/7 live news service risks becoming merely a static digital archive—a frozen library paying tribute to Dr. Ranjan. Beyond November 2026, active real-time reporting may cease entirely. A RAY OF HOPE: We extend an urgent appeal to our readers, patrons, and well-wishers to step forward. Your support can keep our daily newsroom intact, vibrant, and alive. Otherwise, this hard-earned legacy will remain frozen in time while our living news outlet falls permanently silent. REASI: The Cooperative Department of District Reasi organized a grand district-level event to mark the 71st All India Cooperative Week under the theme, “Cooperatives for Women, Youth, and Weaker Sections.” Held in the Auditorium of the DC Office Complex, the event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan, as Chief Guest, with ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal as Special Guest.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner praised the initiatives of the Cooperative Department and urged Cooperatives to harness the district’s tourism potential by offering home-stay facilities and promoting local products at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Shri Shiv Khori Shrine. He urged cooperatives to work collectively and avail all the benefits for them. He emphasized the pivotal role cooperatives play in empowering communities and driving the vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat).

The program featured cultural performances by school students, speeches by cooperative members, and distribution of registration certificates among newly registered tourism cooperatives. Awards were also presented to institutions for their outstanding contributions to the cooperative movement. ADDC Sukhdev Samyal also encouraged all by giving examples of large cooperative working in India.

Earlier, the event commenced with a welcome address by the Deputy Registrar Bhawani Attri. We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan.IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity.
