SRINAGAR: Janata Dal (United) Jammu & Kashmir President, Mr. G.M. Shaheen, today addressed a well-attended press conference at the party’s head office in Raj Bagh, Srinagar, where he outlined the party’s roadmap and preparedness for the forthcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) and Panchayat elections across the Union Territory.
While interacting with members of the media, Mr. Shaheen emphasized that the JDU is fully geared up to participate in these democratic exercises with renewed energy and organizational strength. He expressed confidence that the Election Commission would soon announce the schedule, reiterating that the JDU had earlier demonstrated its growing influence by performing commendably in both the District Development Council (DDC) and Block Development Council (BDC) elections.
“Our cadres are active in every district—from Nagrota to Budgam, from Kupwara to Kathua. The Janata Dal (United) is not only ready but determined to contest and win. However, the final list of candidates will be finalized after due consultation with our executive committee,” Shaheen affirmed.
He further urged the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to ensure the timely completion of all pending developmental works—particularly in rural and hilly areas—before the onset of winter. Shaheen underscored that people in remote regions should not be left to suffer due to administrative delays or incomplete infrastructure projects.
During the press conference, dozens of new members from various political parties formally joined the Janata Dal (United) in the presence of Mr. Shaheen. Welcoming them into the party fold, he said their induction marks another milestone in the JDU’s steady expansion across Jammu & Kashmir.
“The joining of experienced and committed individuals from different political backgrounds will further strengthen our organizational network at the grassroots level. The JDU represents people’s trust and aspirations—our mission is service, not power,” Shaheen remarked.
Concluding the interaction, Mr. Shaheen reiterated his party’s commitment to inclusive development, transparency, and youth empowerment, assuring that the JDU will continue to raise the voice of the people both within and outside the political corridors.
