• Outreach campaign to cover 58 tribal villages: DDC

POONCH: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting to review the progress under the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, a national initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs aimed at empowering tribal communities.

The meeting, held in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, discussed the implementation roadmap across 58 tribal-populated villages of the district. The DDC directed all concerned departments to ensure timely submission of development plans to the Ministry, with mandatory approval from respective Village Gram Sabhas.

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has scheduled a comprehensive outreach programme under the banner of "Abhiyan", which will be conducted from November 17 to December 17, 2025.

In preparation for the successful implementation of the programme, the District Development Commissioner directed all concerned officers to take proactive measures to ensure its success. The campaign would feature IEC (Information, Education & Communication) activities, installation of hoardings and distribution of publicity material, Gap Analysis of Villages and others.

During this period, specially constituted teams of officers will engage with tribal communities in each panchayat to raise awareness about the government schemes and services.

Emphasizing the need for comprehensive public outreach, the District Development Commissioner instructed departments to actively disseminate information about welfare schemes, with support from master trainers. He also highlighted the importance of communicating the government's developmental focus—such as improved road connectivity, education, playgrounds, electricity, water supply and other critical infrastructure.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Mohammad, Iqbal Zargar; ICDS Project Officer, Khalid Hussain Wafa; Assistant Commissioner Panchayats, Rakesh Sharma; ACD Shakeel Ahmed; SEs, CMO, CAO, CAHO, DSWO/DPO, DIO NIC, Executive Engineers from JPDCL and Jal Shakti departments, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer and other officials concerned with the initiative.
