BANDIPORA: With an aim to address and deliberate on key road safety challenges within the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, who is also (Chairman Road Safety Committee) on Thursday chaired a meeting of District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) at Mini Secretariat Bandipora.
During the meeting, the DC highlighted the importance of awareness initiatives aimed at fostering safe driving practices among all road users. He emphasized educating the public about traffic rules, dangers of reckless driving, and responsible behavior on the roads to create a safer and more sustainable transportation environment.
The meeting discussed threadbare issues such as raising awareness on road safety, identifying and rectifying accident-prone black spots, crash barrier installations, road widening projects, and much more.
On the occasion, the DC thoroughly reviewed the progress reports on tasks assigned to different departments during previous Road Safety Committee meetings such as assessing the implementation status of key initiatives, identifying any challenges faced, and ensuring accountability for the timely execution of road safety measures.
While reviewing the efforts and measures of different departments, Qadri stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination to achieve results in improving road safety. Among others, the meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Bandipora; CMO; CEO; ARTO; DIO; Ex. Engineer R&B, Ex. Engineer PMGSY, DySP Hqr and other concerned.
