GANDERBAL: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir, conducted an extensive visit to the Transit Camp at Wandhama today to review the progress of ongoing developmental works and assess the facilities available for migrant employees residing there.
The DC inspected various blocks under construction and emphasized the need for completing the pending works within the stipulated time frame. He directed the executing agencies to expedite their efforts and maintain quality standards so that all blocks are completed on time and handed over to migrant employees.
KPDCL was instructed to prepare and submit a detailed plan for installing street lights across the transit camp. Similarly, the Jal Shakti Department was directed to ensure an adequate supply of potable water and complete formalities for borewell construction at the earliest. To gain a firsthand understanding of the issues faced by the residents, Shyambir interacted with families residing in the transit camp.
The residents highlighted several concerns, including water, power supply, roads, street lighting, parking facilities and the annual maintenance of flats. The DC issued instructions to the relevant departments for the timely resolution of these issues. Regarding the maintenance of flats, he encouraged the residents to form a committee in consultation with the Relief Department to raise a maintenance fund collectively. This initiative is expected to streamline the upkeep of the facilities and ensure a better living environment for the families.
The DC reiterated the district administration's commitment to addressing the needs of the migrant employees and ensuring that the necessary infrastructure and amenities are provided efficiently. During the visit, the DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gulzar Ahmad; Executive Engineer R&B, Tehsildar Tulmulla, and other concerned officials.
