JAMMU: As part of the ongoing (Systematic Voters' Education and electoral participation (SVEEP) campaign, the Electoral Literacy Club, Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu today organized debate competition under the theme, "Is voting a right or a duty". As many as 15 students participated in the competition judged by Prof. Bindu Chib, Prof. Suman Bala and Prof. Sunita Devi.Prof. Liaquat Jafri lent a unique charm to the occasion with his gracious presence. Winners of the competition were Gunveen kour (1st), Khyrul Nisa Bhat (2nd) and Naina Rajput (3rd). Debate competition was concluded with the voter's pledge.
In the same series, a Social Media based activity was also organized on the theme, "Know your Constituency". The objective of this activity was to create awareness among the college students and the local community about the importance of knowing one's constituency and to enhance electoral participation and informed decision-making. A total of 8 students participated actively and shared informative posts providing details of their respective assembly constituencies including Doda, Kathua, Billawar, Vijaypur and Jammu.
Principal of the College, Dr. S. P. Saraswat appreciated the efforts of participants and shared valuable views to motivate the students. Both the activities were coordinated by student coordinators Shivya Gandotra, Pratishtha Sharma and Khushi Bhardwaj under the mentorship of Prof. Vinay Lata and Dr. Manmeet Kour.
