• Mission YUVA offers reliable framework for economic empowerment of women: DC

KATHUA: To promote women entrepreneurship, strengthen Self Help Groups (SHGs) and facilitate on-boarding under Mission YUVA, the Directorate of Employment J&K in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir National Rural Livelihood Mission (J&K NRLM), today organised a one-day Women Entrepreneurship and SHGs Mela here at Government Degree College Kathua.

Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Sharma was the chief guest. He formally inaugurated the mela in presence of a large number of women entrepreneurs, SHG members and officers and officials from line departments. The Deputy Commissioner inspected the stalls put up by Self Help Groups from different tehsils of the district and interacted with the women entrepreneurs, appreciating their efforts, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the Directorate of Employment and J&K NRLM for organising the mela and providing a vibrant platform to women entrepreneurs. He appealed the women to come forward and avail the benefits of government schemes to achieve economic self-reliance. He also directed the line departments to extend necessary guidance, hand-holding and support to aspiring women entrepreneurs for setting up and sustaining their units.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner gave away loan sanction letters to new women entrepreneurs to support them in establishing and expanding their ventures. Mementos were presented to the best-performing stalls in recognition of their quality and enterprise. Several women entrepreneurs also shared their entrepreneur journeys, inspiring and motivating other participants.
