JAMMU: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Central University of Jammu commemorated the birth anniversary of Rani Laxmibai, the fearless queen of Jhansi, with a grand celebration today at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium. The event was graced by esteemed guests Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice-chancellor, CU Jammu, Ms. Shagun Parihar MLA, Kishtwar and Sh. Tilak Thakur State Organising Secretary, ABVP Jammu Kashmir,who paid tribute to the legendary warrior queen.
During the program, the guests shared inspiring stories of Rani Laxmibai’s valour, leadership, and indomitable spirit, highlighting her role in India’s struggle for independence. In an introductory remark, the ABVP’s State’s Vice-president, Prof. Ritu Bakshi emphasised the significance of Rani Laxmibai's legacy in modern times with the slogan “The Gods reside where women are respected”. She also motivated the university’s young girls to participate more actively in the nation-building process.
Vice Chancellor, Central University Jammu Prof. Sanjeev Jain, in his address, emphasised the importance of instilling patriotism and courage in the youth by incorporating the indispensable values of Rani Laxmibai. He also emphasised the role of women in freedom fighting, and urged everyone to take inspiration from them.
Chief Guest, Ms.Shagun Parihar highlighted the role of women in shaping the nation’s history. She enlightened the reason behind commemorating this “Stri Shakti Divas” in modern times when the country is significantly growing. The State’s Organising Secretary, ABVP Jammu and Kashmir, Sh. Tilak Thakur also expressed his views by glorifying the valour of Laxmibai against British Imperialism. He endorsed the idea of women's representation in decision-making to make the political system more inclusive and gender sensitive.
The event concluded with the national anthem by upholding the values of freedom and bravery exemplified by Rani Laxmibai. More than 150 students including faculty attended this seminar. On this occasion, Unit president, Manoj Verma and Secretary Abhishek Choudhary were also present there.
