JAMMU: The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Central University of Jammu, under the mentorship of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, have successfully concluded the Five Days National Workshop–cum Awareness Program on “Cyber Shield: Defending the Digital Footprints”, in coordination with the National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

The programme aimed to create awareness about cyber security, digital responsibility, and awareness about emerging cyber threats. Around 400 plus undergraduate, postgraduate students, and research scholars from various departments of Central University of Jammu actively participated in the program, demonstrating keen interest in understanding cyber security challenges and solutions.

All the participants were provided with a booklet titled ‘Cyber Kavach’, highlighting essential cyber safety guidelines and best practices for secure digital engagement. Each day, a quiz was organized, and the first, second & third winners of the quiz were awarded with cash prizes of ₹1,000/-, ₹800/-, and ₹500/- respectively during the concluding session.

Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Head, Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, congratulated the winners of the quiz competitions and presented them with cash prizes and certificates. First prize winners were Mr. Osho Raj Sheelup from the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, Ms. Charvi Gupta from the Dept. of National Security Studies, Ms. Rupal Slathia from the Dept. of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, Ms. Joshita Ahir from the Dept. of Botany, Ms. Jiya from the Dept. of Molecular Biology.

Second prize winners were Mr. Abdullah Adil from the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, Mr. Pranav Kumar from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mr. Mayank Mahajan from the Dept. of Human Resource Management & Organizational Behaviour, Mr. Aman Thapa from the Dept. of Mathematics, Mr. Sumesh from the Dept. of Computer Science and Information technology.

Third prize winners were Mr. Siddharth from the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, Ms. Amrita R Pillai from the Dept. of National Security Studies, Ms. Shivali Bhagat from the Dept. of Educational Studies, Ms. Sonaly from the Dept. of Mathematics, Mr. Vinith Dhar from the Dept. of Public Policy and Public Administration.

The concluding session was marked by insightful reflections on the key learnings of the programme, highlighting the importance of safeguarding personal and professional data in today’s digital era. Experts and resource persons emphasized practical strategies to prevent cyber fraud, identity theft, data breaches, and online misinformation.

During the concluding session, the coordinators of the programme Sh. Pankaj Choudhary, Mr. Zakir Ahmad Sheikh, and Dr. Suresh V. Limkar expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, for his visionary leadership, constant guidance, continued support, encouragement, and commitment to the university’s academic and outreach activities.They also expressed their sincere gratitude to Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Head, Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, as well as to the distinguished speakers and participants for their valuable contributions and active involvement.
