BUDGAM: District Administration Budgam successfully organized a comprehensive three-day district-level training programme for Phase-I of Census 2027, focusing on the House-listing and Housing Census (HLO), at the Regional Extension Training Centre (RETC) Budgam.

The training programme was held under the overall supervision and chairmanship of Principal Census Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan , and was attended by District Census Nodal Officer (ADC) Budgam, Mehraj-ud-din Shah.

The programme aimed at strengthening the capacity of District, Municipal, and Charge Level Officers by equipping them with the necessary technical knowledge and field-level skills required for accurate and efficient data collection during the census exercise.

During the sessions, detailed deliberations were held on house-listing methodologies, enumeration procedures, and the use of digital tools and mobile-based applications for real-time data capture and integration. Special emphasis was laid on the roles and responsibilities of field functionaries, including Tehsildars and Executive Officers, in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the data.

The training sessions were conducted by experienced resource persons and master trainers, including the District Statistics & Evaluation Officer, District Informatics Officer, and other subject experts with domain expertise in census operations, data management, and digital enumeration systems.

These trainers provided practical demonstrations, hands-on guidance, and interactive sessions to familiarize participants with the operational framework and technological aspects of Census 2027.

The programme witnessed active participation from senior officers and officials, including Tehsildars from various tehsils, Municipal representatives, and other concerned stakeholders, reflecting a strong institutional commitment towards the successful conduct of the census.

During the programme, the officials underscored that accurate house listing serves as the backbone of the entire census exercise and plays a crucial role in evidence-based planning and policy formulation.

The District Administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency, efficiency, and precision in the conduct of Census 2027 and emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholders.

The final phase of the training programme is scheduled to be held on April 2, 2026, as part of the district’s continued efforts to ensure full preparedness for the upcoming census exercise.
