JAMMU: The All Jammu and Kashmir Jatt Sabha has demanded an employment package for the youth of the Jatt community, displaced persons, and refugees of the erstwhile state. As per a press release, a meeting was organised by Ajay Choudhary and Sonu Choudhary at village Sai Kalan, Suchetgarh, in R.S. Pura of Jammu district. The meeting was chaired by the President of the Jatt Sabha and former Minister, S. Manjit Singh, who was accompanied by senior Jatt leaders.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on the issues faced by the younger generation of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly Jatts, displaced persons, and refugees. According to S. Manjit Singh, these communities have been neglected socially, economically, and politically, and therefore require special attention from the government. He said that unrepresented Jatts and displaced persons lack political representation due to the absence of reservation of some Assembly seats in the Jammu region, which would otherwise empower these neglected classes.
“The Jatts, displaced persons, and refugees have been facing political, social, and economic crises for decades. Hence, youth from these communities should be provided employment under a special package in defence, paramilitary forces, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police,” he demanded. Meanwhile, former MP and Chief Patron Talok Singh Bajwa also addressed the gathering and demanded Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation benefits for Jatt youth in central government jobs and professional educational institutions.
He further demanded that the issues of refugees be addressed by releasing the pending package in their favour. He stated that one package of ₹5.5 lakh had been released, while the remaining amount is yet to be disbursed. Senior Vice President of the Jatt Sabha and former Minister Choudhary Sukhnandan said that the border belt deserves equitable development and basic amenities for its inhabitants.
