RAJOURI: In a major boost to youth empowerment, a divisional-level mega job fair was organised today at Nowshera, with participation of over 35 companies and over 1,800 aspiring youth under one roof. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary inaugurated the event, emphasizing the government's commitment towards creating employment opportunities through initiatives like Mission YUVA.
The objective of the event was to provide employment and self-employment opportunities to the youth of the region. In his address, the Deputy CM underscored the government’s strong commitment towards youth empowerment and employment generation through initiatives like Mission YUVA. He emphasized that such platforms play a vital role in bridging the gap between job seekers and employers.
More than 35 companies participated in the job fair, collectively offering 531 vacancies across diverse sectors including manufacturing, retail, service, health, insurance, finance, banking, automobile, tourism, agriculture, fertilizers and textiles. The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 1,800 unemployed youth from across the region participating and availing the opportunity to interact directly with the employers.
Under Mission YUVA, the youth are also being facilitated with financial assistance in the form of loans, along with capacity building and handholding support to establish their own self-employment ventures. On the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister distributed loan cheques among the beneficiaries through J&K Bank and also handed over sanction letters to the selected candidates under the scheme.
While addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister encouraged the youth to actively participate in such initiatives. He urged them to take maximum benefit of various Government self-employment schemes to establish their own business ventures and become job creators.
Senior officers of the district administration, officials from the Employment Department, representatives of participating companies and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
The successful conduct of the mega event marks another significant step towards enhancing employment opportunities and promoting a culture of entrepreneurship among the youth of the region.
