KATHUA: The first day of the special phase of the National Vande Mataram campaign was marked with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour across district Kathua, with a series of programmes including mass recitation of Vande Mataram and tributes to the valiant freedom fighters.
At the District Administrative Complex, a solemn programme was organised in the Conference Hall of the DC Office, where officers and officials gathered to participate in the mass recitation of Vande Mataram. Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma presided over the function.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Vishavjeet Singh visited Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, where they paid floral tributes to the statues of Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar. The occasion witnessed participation from ex-servicemen, prominent citizens and people from all walks of life, who joined in paying homage to the martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that Vande Mataram is not merely a song but a symbol of the nation’s unity, pride and collective consciousness. He emphasized that such initiatives remind citizens of the unparalleled sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and inspire present and future generations to uphold the values of patriotism, integrity and selfless service.
He further called upon all sections of society to actively participate in the campaign and contribute towards strengthening the spirit of national unity. A mass recitation of Vande Mataram was also held at the park, creating an atmosphere imbued with patriotic zeal and reverence for the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes. Similar programmes were organised across various government offices, educational institutions and public spaces throughout the district.
