REASI: In a significant step toward achieving the goals of the Swachhta Excellence Campaign 2026, the Municipal Council Reasi today organized a specialized awareness drive focused on source segregation in Ward No. 10. The initiative led by newly trained Community Mobilizers in coordination with the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) team, marks a strategic effort to transform local neighbourhoods into models of urban sanitation.
The drive was a key part of the "Model Ward Colony Initiative," which seeks to institutionalize sustainable waste management practices at the household level. During the day-long activity, the mobilization teams conducted extensive door-to-door interactions with residents to explain the critical importance of separating waste at the point of origin. To ensure long-term compliance and clarity, the teams distributed informative segregation posters and detailed waste collection schedules to every household.
These materials are designed to serve as a daily guide for citizens, helping them distinguish between wet, dry and hazardous waste streams. By providing these tools directly to the public, the Council aims to streamline the collection process and ensure more efficient processing at waste management facilities. The participation of Community Mobilizers and Self-Help Group (SHG) members was central to the success of today’s drive. These women, acting as frontline ambassadors for the Swachh Bharat Mission, used their local influence to encourage families to adopt cleaner habits. Their involvement highlights the growing role of community-led leadership in driving the region's environmental goals.
By focusing on direct engagement and education, the Municipal Council Reasi is moving closer to its vision of a cleaner and greener town where waste is treated as a manageable resource rather than a public burden. The Council urged residents of Ward No. 10 and the wider Reasi area to actively support these mobilizers and adhere to the shared collection schedules. The success of the Model Ward Colony Initiative depends on the consistent cooperation of every household, ensuring that Reasi remains a leader in sustainable urban living.
