JAMMU: The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Sustainable Development in India: Charting the Pathways for Viksit Bharat @ 2047’, organized by the Department of Economics, Central University of Jammu, commenced with its inaugural session, featuring eminent speakers and thought-provoking discussions on India's developmental trajectory.
Dr. D. K. Ojha, Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker, delivered an insightful address focusing on the energy sector as a key driver of economic growth. He emphasized the Viksit Bharat vision, outlining how strategic transformations in infrastructure and structural reforms are shaping the future of the nation. His address provided a comprehensive perspective on India's developmental agenda and the role of sustainable energy in achieving long-term economic resilience.
The session was formally inaugurated with a welcome address by Prof. A. K. Nanda, Head, Department of Economics and Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Central University of Jammu, who extended his greetings to the distinguished guests and participants, setting the tone for an engaging and intellectually enriching FDP. Prof. Nanda also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, for his unwavering support and visionary leadership, which has been instrumental in organizing this FDP and fostering a culture of academic excellence at the university. The inaugural session was seamlessly anchored by Ms. Tanvi Sambyal, Research Scholar, who ensured the smooth flow of proceedings.
Following the inaugural address, two expert lectures were delivered. Prof. Pradeep Chauhan, Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, provided deep insights into Global Environmental Governance and Sustainable Development in India.Prof. S. I. Rajan further enriched the discussions with his talk on migration and sustainable development.
Dr. Shaveta Kohli, Associate Professor, efficiently managed the inaugural session and program coordination, ensuring a seamless and well-structured event. She also delivered the formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the esteemed speakers and participants. She also expressed her gratitude for the invaluable support received from Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, CU Jammu, Prof. Vinay Kumar, IQAC Director, Prof. Suram Singh, Dean Academics, and Prof. Uday Pratap Singh, Associate Dean Academics, whose guidance and encouragement contributed significantly to the success of the event.
Mr. Anil Kumar Bharti, Assistant Professor, is leading the overall coordination of the FDP, ensuring the successful organization of sessions, facilitating discussions, and encouraging active participant engagement throughout the program. At the beginning of the inaugural session, he also provided a brief overview of the FDP, outlining its objectives, key themes, and expected outcomes, setting the stage for the discussions ahead.
The inaugural session witnessed enthusiastic participation, with faculty members and scholars engaging in meaningful discussions, setting the stage for a productive and enlightening FDP. In addition, students of the Department of Economics also joined the session, contributing to the engaging and insightful discussions.
