JAMMU: The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Central University of Jammu, successfully inaugurates the National Workshop–cum Awareness Program Cyber Shield: Defending the Digital Footprints”under the mentorship of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu.The Program aimed to create awareness about cyber safety, digital responsibility, and protection of personal data in the digital era.

The inaugural session was graced by the Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu. In his address, Prof. Yashwant emphasized the importance of being vigilant and responsible in the digital world and highlighted the growing need for cyber security awareness among students and citizens. He appreciated the efforts of the department in organizing such a relevant and timely program.

Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Head, Department of Computer Science and IT, delivered the introductory remarks and guided the participants on the objectives of the workshop. He also shared practical safety tips for navigating the digital world, emphasizing the importance of using strong passwords, safeguarding personal information, being cautious of suspicious links, and maintaining responsible online behavior.

The unveiling of the “Cyber Kavach” booklet by the auspicious hands of Prof. Yashwant Singh along with faculty members of the department took place during the inaugural session. The booklet highlights essential cyber safety guidelines and best practices for secure digital engagement.

 Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor,  Central University of Jammu conveyed his best wishes for the success of the event and appreciated the efforts of the department in organizing such a relevant and timely program.

The program is organized in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, whose support played a vital role in making the workshop a national-level initiative. Resource persons shared their knowledge and experiences related to cyber safety, digital footprints, and online security, which greatly benefited the participants.

The event was coordinated by Sh. Pankaj Choudhary, Mr. Zakir Ahmad Sheikh, and Dr. Suresh V. Limkar, along with the support of faculty members, staff, and student volunteers.

A large number of undergraduate and postgraduate students, along with research scholars from all departments of the Central University of Jammu, will be actively participating in this National Workshop–cum Awareness Program, reflecting their keen interest in understanding cyber security challenges and solutions.
