BANJAR (HIMACHAL PRADESH): Government College Banjar (Himachal Pradesh) is set to host a significant international conference on "Identity, Culture, Development and Environment in Himalayas: Challenges and Future Perspectives" from 13-14 August 2024. The two-day conference will be presided over by the Principal of the college, Dr. Renuka Thapliyal.
A highlight of the conference will be a keynote address by Dr. Priya Ranjan, who will delve into the complex interconnections between global warming, sustainable development, and artificial intelligence.
Dr. Surendra Singh (Assistant Professor, Political Science) will serve as the convener of the conference, while Dr. Shravan Kumar (Assistant Professor, Economics) will be the organizing secretary. Dr. Yog Raj (Assistant Professor, Public Administration), Mr. Tikam Ram (Assistant Professor, History), Mr. Sunny Negi (Principal, GC Gadagusaain), and Mr. Deep Kumar (Principal, GC Thachi) will also play crucial roles in organizing the event.
The Director of Higher Education, Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Amarjeet K. Sharma, will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Dr. Harish Kumar (Additional Director, Directorate of Higher Education, Shimla) and Dr. Gopal Krishna Sanghaik (OSD College and State Nodal Officer, Directorate of Higher Education, Himachal Pradesh) will also be special guests.
This international conference will see the participation of 65 scholars from 5 different countries, 8 states of India, and 7 districts of Himachal Pradesh, who will present their research papers.
Dr. J.C. Kuniyal (Scientist-G and Head, Centre for Environmental Assessment and Climate Change, G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, Almora, Uttarakhand) and Honorary Fellow, Bath Spa University, London, will share his thoughts as the keynote speaker.
Invited speakers will include Dr. Swagata Basu, Dr. Priya Ranjan, Dr. Jitendra D. Soni, Dr. Sachin Kumar, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Dr. Krishna Prasad Bhandari, Dr. Ruchi Ramesh, and Dr. Diptimayee Nayak.
