JAMMU: With the vision of Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, the Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu, successfully organized a Two Week Training Workshop on MOOC Development. The day remarked a special certification event to facilitate M.Ed. students who have participated in hands-on-practice workshop on MOOC designing and development.
The event was organized and coordinated by the students of M.Ed 4th Semester with the objective of celebrating learning, innovation and academic achievement. The program emphasized the significant role of technology and innovation in enhancing the teaching-learning process. On this occasion, Prof. Asit K. Mantry, Head of the Department and the Workshop Coordinator, Prof. J. N. Baliya, Professor, Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu and Research Scholars as resource experts of the workshop graced the event with their esteemed presence.
The theme of the event, “Innovate to Educate,” highlighted the evolving nature of education in the digital era. The event marked the culmination of a two-week intensive workshop aimed at designing innovative instructional modules, developing learner-centered teaching materials, and facilitating the effective distribution and dissemination of these pedagogical resources.
The outcomes of the workshop were effectively showcased by the students through a documentary video presentation and report submission, which highlighted the entire process from conceptualization to execution along with key learning experiences and innovative practices adopted during the workshop. Additionally, instructional modules were presented during the event to provide a practical insight into the design, structure, and implementation of the developed learning resources.
During Interaction with young and innovative prospective teacher educators, Prof. Asit K. Mantry, Head of the Department in his address, highlighted the achievements and transformative changes under the guidance and supervision of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain. He emphasized that the university provides meaningful opportunities for students to explore their potential and contribute creatively to the field of education. Referring to the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” he encouraged students to work towards making India a “Vishva Guru” through knowledge, innovation and dedication. He also motivated the students to strive for excellence, adopt innovative practices and actively contribute to the transformation of the education system.
Prof. J.N. Baliya, Workshop Coordinator congratulated the participants for the successful completion of the workshop. In his address, Prof. Baliya emphasized the need for bringing transformative changes like integration of innovative technologies within the education system so that every student becomes innovative, creative and capable of contributing meaningfully to society in alignment with the vision of NEP 2020. He further highlighted that such workshops play a crucial role in nurturing competencies required for implementing the learner-centric and skill-oriented approach. He also mentioned that the pilot testing of the course has been successful and the initiative has now progressed to its third phase, reflecting its growing impact and acceptance among students. They encouraged students to adopt innovative thinking and continue lifelong learning.
The highlight of the program was the Certificate Distribution Ceremony, where students were awarded certificates for successfully completing the Two-Week Training Workshop on MOOC Development. The event also features Presentation of experiences, reflecting how the course enhanced their understanding and practical skills. The event witnessed a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere, where learning, innovation, and achievement were celebrated collectively.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members and students for their valuable presence and contribution. The event marked a successful initiative towards building a better future through education and technology.
