JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu concluded the three-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on Leadership Skills for Managers for officials of the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) Ltd on 24th June 2026. The programme was conducted from 22nd to 24th June 2026 at the Vedanta MDP Centre, IIM Jammu, with the objective of enhancing leadership competencies, managerial effectiveness, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities among participants.The valedictory ceremony was graced by Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, who joined the event virtually, along with Dr. K. P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman and Managing Director, NBCC Ltd., who also addressed the gathering in online mode. Dr. Debasis Satapathy, Executive Director, NBCC Ltd., was present during the valedictory ceremony. Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty & Research, IIM Jammu, also graced the occasion and shared his insights with the participants.

Also present during the valedictory ceremony were Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy, IIM Jammu, and the Programme Directors, Dr. Malaya Ranjan Mohapatra, Dr. Pratik Maheshwari, and Dr. Vaseem Akram, whose efforts contributed significantly to the design and delivery of the programme. The training programme provided participants with valuable exposure to contemporary leadership practices, strategic management concepts, and practical approaches to organizational excellence.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K. P.Mahadevaswamy, Chairman and Managing Director, NBCC Ltd., congratulated the participants on successfully completing the Management Development Programme and commended IIM Jammu for delivering a transformative and professionally enriching learning experience. He extended a warm invitation to Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, to further deliberate on future collaborations and strategic partnerships between NBCC and IIM Jammu aimed at strengthening leadership development and organizational excellence.Addressing the participants, he emphasized that being trained by a premier institution such as IIM Jammu is both a privilege and a matter of immense pride. He noted that the programme was meticulously designed to cultivate structured thinking, analytical decision-making, professional discipline, effective time management, and a systematic approach to problem-solving through case-based learning and experiential pedagogy.Urging the participants to become agents of change, he stressed that the true value of the programme would be realized only when its learnings are translated into action. In his address, Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, extended a warm welcome to the participants and congratulated them on the successful completion of the programme. He attributed the success of the programme to the collective efforts of the participants, faculty members, programme directors, and the Executive Education & Consultancy team of IIM Jammu. Referring to the encouraging feedback shared by Dr. Debasis Satapathy, Executive Director, NBCC, he expressed satisfaction that the programme had achieved its intended objectives and delivered meaningful learning outcomes for the participants.Highlighting the remarkable journey of IIM Jammu, he noted that despite being one of the youngest institutions in the IIM fraternity, IIM Jammu has rapidly emerged as a nationally recognized for its academic excellence, standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the country's most distinguished management institutions. He emphasized that the Institute's growth has been driven by its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, industry engagement, and nation-building.He expressed his keen interest in strengthening the partnership between IIM Jammu and NBCC through collaborative initiatives in leadership development, executive education, capacity building, consulting, and research. Extending a special invitation to Dr. K. P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman and Managing Director, NBCC Ltd., and the NBCC leadership team, he encouraged them to visit IIM Jammu to experience its world-class infrastructure, vibrant academic ecosystem, and transformative learning environment. He also invited them to seek the divine blessings of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, highlighting Jammu's unique blend of spirituality, culture, and development.

Reaffirming his commitment to fostering a long-term institutional relationship, he conveyed his willingness to visit New Delhi to further explore strategic avenues of collaboration between IIM Jammu and NBCC. He expressed confidence that the partnership would create new opportunities for leadership excellence, organizational transformation, and national development, benefiting both institutions and contributing meaningfully to India's growth story.

Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty & Research, IIM Jammu, encouraged the participants to view leadership as a continuous journey of learning, growth, and self-development. He emphasized that in today's interconnected world, leaders must constantly broaden their perspectives and adapt to evolving realities. Urging participants to apply the knowledge and insights gained during the intensive three-day programme, he called upon them to drive positive changes within their organizations and society. He also highlighted the growing opportunities in infrastructure and development in Jammu & Kashmir and expressed optimism for stronger collaboration between IIM Jammu and NBCC in contributing to regional and national development.

During the reflection’s session, participants shared overwhelmingly positive feedback on the programme, appreciating its well-structured design, practical orientation, and insightful learning experience. They highlighted that the programme enhanced their understanding of leadership, strategic decision-making, financial management, organizational effectiveness, and workplace culture. Participants particularly valued the faculty's case-based teaching approach, which provided clarity on complex business challenges, including organizational turnaround strategies, balance sheet improvement, and achieving large-scale business objectives. They noted that the discussions and real-world examples shared during the programme offered actionable insights that could be readily implemented in their professional roles. Several participants described the programme as one of the most enriching training experiences they had attended, commending the expertise of IIM Jammu faculty and the relevance of the sessions to contemporary managerial challenges. This was followed by distribution of certificates.

The event concluded with the National Song followed by National Anthem.
