JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu concluded the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR)-sponsored Professional Management Course for 31 Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Other Ranks (ORs) from the Tri-Services on 24th June 2026The programme, which commenced on 6th April 2026, was designed to enhance the managerial, leadership, and professional competencies of retiring and retired Defence personnel, enabling their smooth transition into corporate and entrepreneurial careers. Over the course of the programme, participants were exposed to contemporary management concepts, leadership practices, business communication, entrepreneurship, and organizational effectiveness through a structured learning framework delivered by experienced faculty and industry experts.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Brig Kapil Taneja, White Knight Corps, as the ChiefGuest. The occasion was also attended by Col Prakash Karki, Director, DGR North, and Lt. Col. Angad Singh Behl, SM, Joint Director, DGR North. From IIM Jammu, the ceremony was presided over by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research. The event was attended by Dr. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C), Programme Directors Prof. Brigadier (Retd.) Neeraj Soni and Dr. Kapil Gumte, along with faculty members and participants.
Addressing the gathering, Brig Kapil Taneja, White Knight Corps congratulated the participants on completing the programme and appreciated their commitment towards continuous learning and self-development. He encouraged them to effectively leverage the knowledge, managerial insights, and leadership skills gained during the course in their second careers and future endeavors. He emphasized that the discipline, resilience, and leadership qualities cultivated during military service provide a strong foundation for success in the corporate and entrepreneurial sectors. He urged the participants to embrace emerging opportunities with confidence and adaptability, while continuing to contribute meaningfully to society and nation-building. He also commended the Directorate General Resettlement and IIM Jammu for creating a robust platform that facilitates the seamless transition of veterans into rewarding professional roles.
In his address, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, emphasized that the conclusion of the programme marks the beginning of a new journey for the participants. He highlighted the importance of translating acquired knowledge into meaningful outcomes and stressed the need for continuous engagement and follow-up with participants to assess the impact of the learning experience. He further noted that entrepreneurship remains a significant national priority and aligns with the vision of the programme. Acknowledging the invaluable contribution of the participants towards nation-building during their service in the Armed Forces, he encouraged them to pursue their goals with clarity, confidence, and determination as they embark on their civilian careers.
Dr. Kapil Gumte, Programme Director, presented the programme report and provided an overview of the comprehensive training delivered during the course. The programme covered key aspects of management, leadership, business communication, entrepreneurship, and contemporary organizational practices, equipping participants with industry-relevant knowledge and skills.
The programme reflects the continued commitment of the Directorate General Resettlement towards empowering veterans through quality education, skill development, and resettlement initiatives in collaboration with premier institutions such as IIM Jammu.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Brigadier (Retd.) Neeraj Soni, who expressed gratitude to the Leadership of IIM Jammu, distinguished guests, DGR officials, faculty members, and participants for their valuable contributions towards the completion of the programme.
The programme concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among the participants, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their professional lives and reinforcing the shared commitment of DGR and IIM Jammu towards veteran empowerment, lifelong learning, and national development.
