JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu welcomed a group of enthusiastic students from Army Public School (APS), Udhampur, for an enriching academic campus tour on October 28, 2024. This visit was part of IIM Jammu’s ongoing community engagement efforts, aiming to inspire and motivate students by offering a first-hand experience of higher education and career opportunities at a premier management institute. The initiative sought to ignite curiosity and aspirations in the young students, encouraging them toward higher education and leadership.
Led by their teachers Ms. Sonika Rajput, Shri Rakesh Sharma, 22 students from the Commerce Stream of Class XII (Commerce Stream) toured the IIM Jammu campus, which included visits to state-of-the-art facilities such as the Nalanda Library, smart classrooms, Mandapam Auditorium, Kautilaya MDP block, Executive Education Classrooms, Upcoming Amphitheatre, cafeteriaand various collaborative spaces. The students had the unique opportunity to interact with IIM Jammu’s fraternity who shared valuable insights into the diverse career options available in management and related fieldsThe students were also shown the Campus AV of IIM Jammu, providing them with an in-depth understanding of the institute’s journey, growth, and academic offerings.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, emphasized the institute's commitment to fostering a learning environment that extends beyond its own students to benefit the broader community. He expressed delight in hosting the students from APS Udhampur and highlighted the importance of such visits in helping young minds realize their potential and empowering them to make informed academic and professional decisions. He reiterated IIM Jammu’s dedication to providing platforms that promote learning, growth, and leadership.
As part of the visit, the students participated in a career counselling session organized by the PR Office, where they were provided with detailed information on the various programs offered at IIM Jammu, including the enrolment process for IIMs. The interactive session allowed the students to ask questions about career paths and gain insights into higher education in fields such as management, finance, and entrepreneurship. The event concluded with a lively Q&A session, where experts addressed the students' queries, leaving them inspired and more confident about their future academic endeavours. This exposure was designed to encourage students to pursue their academic goals with ambition and dedication.
The students and accompanying teachers expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the warm welcome and the enriching experience at IIM Jammu. The visit provided valuable exposure to the world of management education and underscored its relevance to the students’ future career aspirations.
