JAMMU:, Police Hospital Jammu organised public awareness and dissemination of health information on the "Risks and Harms of Self-Medication" in different Police Units/JKAP/IRP Battalions.
In pursuance to the instructions conveyed by the Director Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization J&K, Police Hospital Jammu organized Medical Awareness Camps on the "Risks and Harms of Self Medication" in different Police Units/AP/IRP Bns. with the active participation of different doctors of Police Hospital Jammu under close supervision of Dr. Meenakshi Kotwal, Medical Superintendent PHJ.
The sole purpose of these camps was to aware the police personnel to desist from self-medication to avoid unwanted invitation to any medical complications having direct bearing upon their health/wellbeing.
The doctors who participated in the said programme to make it a grand success included Dr. Sanjay Sharma (Consultant Physician), Dr. Rewa Gaind, MO, Dr. Anil Slathia, MO and Dr.Baljit Singh. They gave thorough/ comprehensive briefing to the police personnel posted in IRP 15 BN Gulshan Ground Jammu, IRP 18" Bn, DPL Jammu, JKAP 4 Sec/JKAP 7/ IRP 14 Bns. headquartered at Channi Himmat Jammu, IRP 7" Bn, Amb Gharota, Jammu, JKAP 8" Bn. Miran Sahib Jammu & PTTI Vijaypur.
During these camps all the participants have been advised not to take any type of illness lightly as there might be numerous reasons of an apparently looking simple illness and as such should immediately seek medical advice from a registered doctor rather than resorting to the self-medication which could land them in any serious trouble at any later stage.
The participants at all the above-mentioned locations were found highly enthusiastic and in high spirit during these camps. The unit heads of these police units were highly thankful for taking such a remarkable initiative by Police Hospital Jammu to enlighten the Police personnel of their respective units regarding such a sensitive issue. At the same time, they expected for holding such health/awareness camps in future as well, so that the health of police personnel (i.e an important element of the society) is not compromised besides keeping them updated/well informed regarding different medical/health issues.
