- Approves PMMSY benefits in favour of 4 eligible beneficiaries
POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal today chaired a District Level Standing Committee (DLSC) meeting today at the DC Office Complex, focusing on border security and improving community welfare near the Line of Control (LoC). The meeting addressed critical security concerns and reviewed the progress of essential measures, including bunker construction. Updates from Army officials highlighted ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
The Deputy Commissioner urged law enforcement agencies, including the Police and BSF to intensify action against drug trafficking and other social issues, stressing the importance of inter-agency collaboration. He also called for reliable water and electricity supplies and encouraged departments to organise veterinary, medical camps and Civics action programmes in border areas.
Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner asked the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to explore the feasibility of a new alternate bridge for Poonch city. The meeting was attended by ADCs, Additional SP, ACR, CPO, ACD, CMO, Tehsildars, and representatives from the Indian Army, BSF, Police, and intelligence agencies.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting of District Level Committee on the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) - a flagship scheme providing necessary support and resources to local fishers and fostering economic growth. At the outset, the Fisheries Development Officer presented a detailed overview of the cases registered under the PMMSY for consideration.
Following an in-depth discussion, the Deputy Commissioner approved the four applications of eligible beneficiaries, marking a positive advancement towards local fisheries development and sustainability efforts. The meeting was attended by PO ICDS, ACD, CAO, HOD Zoology GDC Poonch, Fisheries Development Officer, AD Fisheries besides other concerned officers.
