- ‘Supreme sacrifice of our heroes will not go unavenged’
JAMMU: In a strongly worded statement, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Er Gulam Ali Khatana has vehemently condemned the yesterday’s ambush on an Army convoy in the Machiedi area of Kathua district, which resulted in the martyrdom of five Army personnel. The MP attributed the attack to Pakistan’s desperate attempts to divert attention from its internal crises.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Khatana asserted, “The bankrupt Pakistan is orchestrating attacks in Jammu and Kashmir to divert the attention of its starving citizens. However, our security grid is more capable of neutralizing any elements that infiltrate our boundaries with the intention of destabilizing peace and hindering progress in our region.”
Expressing profound grief over the loss of life, Khatana stated, “I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the five brave soldiers who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Machiedi, Kathua. Their selfless service to the nation will always be remembered, and their sacrifice will not go unavenged. India will defeat the evil forces behind this attack.”
The MP expressed unwavering confidence in India’s leadership and security forces. “We have strong and capable leadership to protect our country from external forces that are desperate and jealous of India’s progress,” he stated emphatically. Khatana further added that terrorism in India is on its last legs, highlighting the effectiveness of the government’s stringent anti-terror policies.
Reflecting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s approach to national security since assuming office in 2014, Khatana revealed, “From day one, when he took over the reins of the nation, Prime Minister Modi has instructed the security forces to deal with terrorists and their sympathizers with an iron hand.”
The Rajya Sabha member emphasized the autonomy given to security forces in combating anti-national elements. “Our security forces have been given a free hand to deal with those who facilitate terrorists on our soil,” he explained. Khatana praised the relentless efforts of the armed forces, stating, “Our security forces are scripting new history with each passing day by eliminating terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Very soon, India will be a terrorism-free country.”
Khatana pointed out that such incidents indicate growing desperation among terrorist outfits and their handlers across the border, as India continues to make significant strides in economic development and global influence. He added that the government’s tough stance on terrorism, coupled with enhanced intelligence gathering and coordinated efforts between various security agencies, has resulted in a marked decrease in terrorist activities across the country, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir.
“As the nation mourns the loss of five brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, there is a renewed sense of determination among the security forces to root out terrorism completely,” he added.
In a sharp rebuke to opposition leaders, Khatana criticized remarks made by Congress President Malikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi regarding the attack. He emphasized that the country has strong and quick decision-making leadership, stating, “Our security forces are capable, and the supreme sacrifice of our heroes will not go unavenged.”
