REASI: The Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), under the aegis of the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, J&K, successfully organized the Watershed Yatra Campaign-2025 at Government Higher Secondary School Tote, Block Bhomag, District Reasi.
The initiative, taken under overall Supervision of Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik aimed to promote sustainable water conservation techniques, watershed Development activities, water management and expedite implementation of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY 2.0) to enhance irrigation efficiency and agricultural productivity in the district.
The campaign was chaired by District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Saraf Singh Nag. He highlighted the significance of watershed management in improving rural livelihoods and ensuring long-term water sustainability.
ACD Pardeep Kumar and Experts from IWMP & Rural Development Department provided valuable insights into scientific watershed planning, soil conservation measures, and rainwater harvesting techniques, particularly in water-scarce regions.
As part of the event, a series of activities were conducted, featuring taking of water resources conservation pledge, Bhumi Pujan, Paani Ki Patshala (Water Awareness Session), screening of informative videos, plantation drives, cultural programs, and recitations emphasizing the importance of watershed conservation.
The campaign concluded with an interactive session where farmers and local representatives shared their experiences and sought expert guidance on effective watershed management strategies. Additionally, a plantation drive was undertaken to reinforce the commitment to environmental sustainability.
This initiative marks a significant step toward fostering awareness and action in watershed conservation, ensuring sustainable agricultural growth, and strengthening water security in rural areas. ACD Reasi Pardeep Kumar, BDO Bhomag Vinod and officials from RDD were present.
