RAMBAN: On the second day of his tour to district Ramban, Prof. (Dr.) Ravi Jyee, Former Vice President and In-proto Vice Chancellor of International University-School of Medicine (TUSOM) and Chairman of the Afro-Eurasian Chamber of Commerce, Education, Development, and Employment (ACCEDE), visited the land subsidence area at Parnote to assess the situation and suggest preventive measures.
Prof. (Dr.) Ravi Jyee was accompanied by Tehsildar Ramban Deep Kumar, ARTO Kuldeep Singh and various other officers. At the high-risk sinking area of Parnote, Prof. Jyee interacted with Brigadier Chirag Ghura, Chief Engineer Beacon, discussing possible stabilization strategies to mitigate future disasters. Emphasizing the need for long-term solutions, he suggested several measures, including massive plantation drives with prescribed tree species to prevent soil erosion. He also highlighted the importance of water source management and strengthening of the drainage system, which he identified as crucial in minimizing the risks of further land subsidence.
During his visit, Prof. Jyee interacted with local residents, sensitizing them about disaster and environmental management while encouraging them to adopt sustainable agricultural and horticultural practices. He stressed the significance of allied activities in boosting the regionâs economic resilience and reducing vulnerability to natural disasters.
