POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal convened a meeting today at the DC office complex to assess the current status of TB cases and implementation of treatment protocol. At the outset, the meeting was informed about the number of reported TB cases, their treatment status, besides the incidence rate. The review highlighted the importance of timely diagnosis and adherence to treatment protocols to combat the spread of this contagious disease.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the necessity of organizing awareness camps on Tuberculosis and instructed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to ensure effective case detection. Stress was also laid on roping in Nikshay Mitras for all TB patients to extend nutritional support during their treatment.
The meeting was also informed about the National Level Screening Campaign for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Tuberculosis being conducted from February 20 to March 31, 2025. The Deputy Commissioner told the CMO to activate teams to carry out the campaign, which aims to screen individuals for both NCDsâincluding diabetes, hypertension, and cancer and TB. The meeting was attended by CMO Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, Dr. Farhana, and other concerned officials, all committed to enhancing public health in the region.
