DODA: A plantation drive, under the aegis of National Mission for a Green India (GIM) was organized in the premises of Government Medical College Doda today. The initiative was spearheaded by a renowned environmentalist Prof. Zaheer Abass Hashmi, in collaboration with the Medical College Management.
The event witnessed the presence of the GMC Principal, Prof. Dr. Rakesh Bahl; Deputy Director Planning Jameel Malik; HOD Anatomy, Dr. K.K. Thakur; HOD Paediatrics Dr Najmus Saqib; Dr. Hamid Parray; Faizan A Tramboo along with faculty members and staff. Prof. Hashmi donated 35 Chinar saplings, which were planted on the campus in the presence of the GMC authorities.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Hashmi emphasized the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and promoting a healthy environment. He highlighted that the Chinar tree, known for its majestic presence and environmental benefits would enhance the campus greenery.
Prof (Dr) Rakesh Bahl expressed his gratitude to Prof. Hashmi for initiating the plantation drive. He appreciated the gesture, stating that such efforts would significantly improve the environment of the institution and inspire future initiatives for a greener campus.
