GANDERBAL: Dr. Sakina Akhtar, Hindi Adhikari, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) has been conferred with “Lal Ded National Award 2021” by Sarhad in recognition to her contribution towards Hindi language and literature, Rajbhasha implementation and cultural studies.
Shri Manoj Sinha Ji, Hon’ble Lt Governor, Jammu & Kashmir, gave the award to Dr. Sakeena at SKICC, in the event graced by Shri Vijay Dhar, noted educationist and Chairman, DPS Srinagar, as Guest of Honour, Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar, Chairperson, National Commission for Women, GoI. The award ceremony was organized by Shri. Sanjay Nahar, Founder-President, Sarhad, a socio-cultural organization working for peace, social harmony, and the welfare of people in border areas.
The citation presented on the occasion acknowledged Dr. Sakina’s literary, academic, and cultural contributions. Her works, including Kashmiri Lok Sahitya Avam Sant Parampara, were appreciated for preserving and interpreting the Rishi-Sufi and saint traditions of the Valley. It highlighted her comparative and critical analysis of Hindi Bhakti Sahitya with Kashmiri Bhakti, Rishi, and Sufi literary traditions, recognizing her scholarly insight, broad vision.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sakina Akhtar expressed her gratitude to the organizers, literary fraternity, and the University administration for their support. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool, Registrar, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, and staffers of the varsity congratulated Dr. Sakina Akhtar on receiving the award.
