RAMBAN: The enforcement departments today conducted a joint market inspection in Ramban town to check compliance with food safety and consumer protection regulations. The team consisted of functionaries from Revenue, Police, Food Safety, Legal Metrology, Municipal Committee and other concerned departments.

The team inspected several Food Business Operator (FBOs) establishments and checked adherence to prescribed standards and statutory requirements. The team examined the quality of food items, hygiene conditions and the accuracy of weights and measures being used by shopkeepers. During the drive, several violations under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 were detected. The erring shopkeepers were penalized with a total fine of Rs 9,000.

The shopkeepers were instructed to maintain proper hygiene standards in their establishments and refrain from selling any food commodity hazardous to human health. The enforcement teams stated that such drives will continue to safeguard consumer interests and ensure the availability of safe and quality food products in the market. Regular inspections will be conducted to enforce compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
