ANANTNAG, BARAMULLA: Continuing its intensified crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics peddling, police achieved another success by apprehending five drug peddlers including wanted heroin supplier in Anantnag, Baramulla and Ganderbal and recovering contraband substances from their possession.
A Police party from Police Post Dialgam had established a naka at Chechripora Bypass Crossing for routine checking intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During his search, contraband substance, apparently heroin-like substance, was recovered from his possession. On questioning, the accused identified himself as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar @ Christian son of Gull Mohammad Dar resident of Nanil, Anantnag.
In Baramulla, a police party from Police Station Uri at a checkpoint established at Zero Morh Daragutlian intercepted a suspicious person. During checking, 5 charas-like sticks wrapped in corn husk were recovered from his possession. He has been identified himself as Faisal Ahmed Khan son of Basik Hussain Khan resident of Daragutlian.
In Ganderbal, police arrested three drug peddlers along with contraband substance. During routine naka checking at Dumkadal Chowk, a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration No. JK01S-4877 with three persons on board, was intercepted. During search, heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. All the three accused persons identified as Jahingir Ahmad Jan @ Jana son of Mohd Shafi resident of Treesa Safapora (Driver of the vehicle), Junaid Zahoor Bhat son of Zahoor Ahmad resident of Waripora Safapora & Jahangir Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Mohammad resident of Batpora Safapora.
Subsequently, all the accused persons have been arrested, besides vehicle used in the commission of crime have also been seized. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
