REASI: Under the visionary leadership of Khalil Choudhary, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Reasi) and the able guidance of Pooja Gupta, Secretary, an awareness programme on the Road Safety Act was organized at Government Middle School Karua by PLVs of TLSC Katra
The Para Legal Volunteers sensitized the students, staff members and local participants regarding the importance of road safety rules and responsible behaviour while using roads. The participants were made aware about traffic regulations, use of helmets and seat belts, prevention of over-speeding, dangers of drunk driving and safety measures for pedestrians and school-going children.
Another awareness programme in the form of a Nukkad Natak on the POCSO Act was organized at Government Middle School (GMS) Garn by the PLVs of TLSC Katra.The main objective of the programme was to spread awareness among students, teachers and the general public regarding the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the importance of safeguarding children from abuse and exploitation. Through the medium of Nukkad Natak, the PLVs effectively conveyed messages related to child safety, reporting mechanisms, legal protection available to children and the role of society in preventing offences against minors.
Another Awareness Program on Lok Adalat was organized by PLVs under the directions of Secretary, DLSA at Reasi. The programme was conducted with the objective of spreading awareness among the general public regarding the significance and advantages of Lok Adalat as an effective mechanism for amicable settlement of disputes. During the programme, the participants were informed that Lok Adalat provides speedy, simple and cost-effective justice through mutual settlement, thereby reducing lengthy court procedures and promoting harmony among parties.
The resource persons highlighted that disputes related to matrimonial matters, motor accident claims, bank recovery cases, labour disputes, electricity and water bills and other compoundable matters can be resolved effectively through Lok Adalat. The participants were also sensitized about free legal aid services provided by the Legal Services Authorities for deserving sections of society.
Another Awareness Programme on “Nasha Mukt Bharat” was organized by the Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Reasi at Government Middle School, Nala Banji. During the awareness session, the participants were sensitized about the social, physical and psychological consequences of substance abuse and were encouraged to actively contribute towards building a drug-free society.
The speakers highlighted the importance of education, moral values and community participation in combating the menace of drug addiction. Students were motivated to stay away from harmful substances and to spread awareness among their peers and family members.
