ANANTNAG: In a significant step towards strengthening surveillance over narcotics offenders and ensuring strict compliance with judicial directions, police in Anantnag installed a GPS-enabled tracking anklet on one accused namely Aejaz Ahmad Tantray son of Manzoor Ahmad Tantray resident of Kapran Verinag A/P Prakeshpora Anchidoora Anantnag involved in an NDPS case who has been granted bail by the Honâble Court.
The device has been affixed in compliance with the courtâs directions to enable continuous monitoring of the accusedâs movements and adherence to bail conditions. A GPS tracking anklet is a wearable electronic monitoring device secured around the ankle, enabling real-time location tracking of the accused and ensuring strict compliance with conditions imposed by the court.
As per case details, the accused is involved in FIR No. 49/2026 registered under Section 8/21 NDPS Act at Police Station Dooru. Pursuant to the directions of the Honâble Court, Anantnag Police installed the GPS-enabled anklet on the accused as a mandatory condition of bail.
With this initiative, Police has embraced modern technology in the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse, ensuring stringent monitoring of habitual narcotics offenders while reinforcing accountability and compliance with the law.
