UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today conducted an extensive tour of Block Tikri in district Udhampur and listened to scores of public issues and demands at a public outreach cum grievances redressal camp held at Panchayat Ghar Mand West- Block Tikri. The camp was attended by IAS Probationer Shagun Singh, ACD Om Parkash, district officers, former PRI members and a large number of people from adjoining panchayats.
The public projected several demands, seeking augmentation of drinking water supply, measures to curb monkey menace, construction of tube well, adequate supply of LPG, shifting of the garbage dumping site at Mand West, completion of Dogra Haat, release of pending compensation for last yearâs flood victims, re-verification of deleted BPL ration cards, installation of hand pumps to overcome scarcity of drinking water and opening of sewing and cutting centres.
The DC gave a patient hearing to the grievances and demands raised by the former PRI members and the general public. He issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned officers for early redressal of genuine issues. He directed the officers to take first-hand appraisal of all grievances and address them on priority.
Several grievances were resolved on the spot by issuing directions to the concerned departments. Stressing the need for dedicated and sincere public service, the DC instructed officers to ensure disposal of genuine public grievances within the stipulated time frame. The Executive Engineer PHE was directed to restart the ongoing JJM works and rejuvenate the traditional water bowlies in the area.
The DC also sensitized the public to the government schemes and programmes including HADP, JKCIP, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and Mission YUVA, urging them to avail maximum benefits of these initiatives. Former PRI members and the general public submitted a detailed memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and appreciated the administration for organizing the outreach camp in the area.
Earlier, officers and officials of line departments sensitized the public to different welfare and development schemes and encouraged them to take advantage of the government initiatives. Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the Solid Waste Management garbage dumping site at Mand West and the MRF site at Sui in District Udhampur.
