JAMMU: Apiculture Development Scheme, Directorate of Agriculture Jammu today celebrated World Bee Day at DCTC, Chimna Chak, Bishnah Jammu under the guidance and leadership of Director Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Jammu Anil Gupta. The event was organised to spread awareness regarding the importance of bees in maintaining ecological balance and food security.

The programme themed “Bee Together for People and the Planet” was attended by around 30 beekeepers from different areas of the district. Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Entomologist Harvinder Singh emphasized that World Bee Day is not only a celebration but also an opportunity to promote awareness about the importance and existence of bees around us. “Although bees are tiny creatures, they play a vital role in pollination, ecosystem sustainability, enhancement of crop productivity and conservation of biodiversity,” he added.  

The participating beekeepers interacted with departmental officers and shared their experiences regarding beekeeping practices and honey production. The programme concluded with a collective pledge to protect pollinators and promote sustainable agricultural practices for a healthier planet.
