HANDWARA: Continuing its strong commitment towards a drug-free society, police in Handwara carried out a large-scale awareness, enforcement and community outreach campaign across the district under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.

The initiative included awareness programmes in schools, public rallies, naka checking, hotspot monitoring and community interaction programmes aimed at spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging collective responsibility against the menace. During awareness sessions, students and youth were sensitized about the dangers of substance abuse and motivated to adopt healthy lifestyles. They were also encouraged to become ambassadors of change and help spread the message of a drug-free society.

Police teams intensified checking at vulnerable locations, strengthened surveillance and established naka points at strategic areas to prevent illegal narcotics activities and ensure public safety. Police appealed to parents, teachers, religious leaders, youth and members of civil society to actively support the mission against drugs and work together for a healthier and safer future.
