General Observers have inspected key sites in Dooru, Tral, and Pampore, while Expenditure Observers in Shopian and Zainapora focused on financial oversight and polling staff preparedness. SVEEP events, such as a mega voter awareness rally in Pahalgam and football competitions in Baramulla, are actively promoting voter participation. Additional measures, including enhanced security, cannabis destruction drives, and infrastructure improvements, are being implemented to ensure a free and fair election process across the region.

General Observer visits Dooru-AC, reviews Election preparations

ANANTNAG:  The General Observer, Sudanshu Mohan Samal Sunday visited the 41-Dooru Assembly Constituency (AC) to review the preparations for the upcoming General Assembly Elections 2024, here. During the visit, the General Observer chaired a meeting at Town Hall Dooru, which was attended by the Returning Officer and other Nodal Officers of the constituency.

The General Observer thoroughly assessed all aspects of the election preparations. The discussions focused on ensuring that all arrangements are in place for smooth and effective elections. Samal emphasized the importance of conducting a fair, transparent, and error-free election.

The officers were directed to adhere to the highest standards of electoral integrity and to address any potential issues promptly. The General Observer reiterated the commitment to uphold democratic values and ensure that the election process is conducted in accordance with established guidelines. Polling for the District Anantnag including 41 Dooru constituency will take place on September 18, 2024 as part of the first phase of elections in Jammu & Kashmir.

SHOPIAN: The Expenditure Observer for district Shopian, Nelapatla Ashok Babu visited various Video Surveillance Teams (VSTs) and Forest Nakas at Gagren, Vedhpora, Hermain, Largam, Memender and Domail villages of the Shopian to inspect the working of their functioning.

The teams are working on ground to keep track of expenditure monitoring of contesting candidates and then report the expenditure to the Expenditure team who then submit it to Expenditure Observer. The visit was aimed to stress for enhanced vigilance in view of the approaching date of Polling for Assembly elections on 18 September.

Expenditure Observer interacted with officials of Video Surveillance Teams (VST) and Forest Nakas and directed them to strictly adhere to the Election Commission's guidelines emphasizing the need to curb illegal expenditures and movement of forest produce.

The VST team was asked to check the campaigning activities of all contesting candidates in the area and book the expenditure as per the ground truth, for the conduct of fair and transparent elections.

ANANTNAG: In a spirited effort to enhance voter engagement and electoral awareness, the District Election Officer (DEO) Anantnag, Syeed Fakhruddin Hamid today flagged-off a mega SVEEP event in Pahalgam at the JKTDC club.

The programme saw the flag-off of All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) rally, cultural programmes, tug of war, pledge ceremony etc. The event, held at the scenic Pahalgam, aimed to capture the attention of the local populace through an engaging and educational programme to encourage informed participation in the upcoming Assembly elections of 2024.

Addressing the gathering, the DEO, emphasized the pivotal role of voter education in strengthening democracy. He exhorted people to vote in the upcoming elections to ensure a historic turnout.

Notably, the elections in Anantnag are scheduled to be held on 18th September. Anantnag has seven Assembly Constituencies and more than 60 candidates are in the electoral fray.

SVEEP: UT Level Inter-Division Football Competition for AAG Boys kicks- off in Baramulla

BARAMULLA: As part of the SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) initiative, aimed at promoting youth engagement in both sports and democratic participation, the UT Level Inter-Division Football Competition for All Age Group (AAG) Boys officially began today at Showkat Ali Stadium, Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla.

Organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, and hosted by District Baramulla, the competition will run until September 17, 2024.

In his opening remarks, the District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Baramulla encouraged the young athletes to pursue excellence through hard work, discipline, and teamwork—essential traits for success on and off the field. He also underscored the role of youth in shaping the future and encouraged them to be active participants in the democratic process.

The competition includes three categories—Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19—with three teams each from Jammu and Kashmir Divisions. Each team will play three matches within their respective age group, competing for top honors.

On day one, Kashmir Division dominated the field, securing victories in all three matches, In the Under-19 category, Kashmir Division defeated Jammu Division with a score of 4-1, in the Under-14 category, Kashmir Division won 2-0 against Jammu Division, in the Under-17 category, Kashmir Division delivered an impressive 7-0 victory over Jammu Division

With all teams having played their first matches, the tournament is set to intensify in the coming days, with the next round of matches scheduled for tomorrow.

In alignment with the SVEEP initiative, the event not only promotes sports but also raises awareness among youth about their civic responsibilities. The Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, aims to create well-rounded individuals by encouraging them to excel both as athletes and as informed, responsible citizens.

SVEEP: District Bandipora Wushu Championship-2024 kicks-off

BANDIPORA:  As part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative, the District Bandipora Wushu Championship 2024 commenced today at Salvatore International School, Shilvat Bandipora.

The two-day event, organized by the District Bandipora Wushu Association, was kick-started by District Election Officer (DEO) Manzoor Ahmad Qadri along with Padmashree Faisal Ali Dar, the Brand Ambassador for SVEEP activities, SDM/RO 14-Sonawari, Sheikh Murtaza and other concerned.

During his address, DEO underscored the critical role of first-time and future voters in the democratic process. He highlighted ongoing efforts to raise awareness about voting rights and the importance of participation in elections. He also expressed his enthusiasm for the championship, noting that it serves as a unique platform to blend sports with civic education.

General Observer meets General Public in Tral, Pulwama

PULWAMA: In the lead-up to the 2024 Assembly Elections, the General Observer for Tral Assembly Constituency, Brajesh Narain Singh today visited Midoora and Batgund to meet with the general public.

The meeting was aimed at fostering confidence among voters and ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place for free, fair and transparent elections.

During the interaction, Singh assured that all steps are being taken to ensure a smooth and peaceful voting process. PULWAMA: The General Observer for Pampore constituency, Vadarevu Vinay Chand today visited the election dispatching center at the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) in Pampore to oversee the arrangements for the upcoming Assembly elections.

During his visit, Chand conducted a thorough inspection of the dispatching and transportation processes, ensuring that all election materials were being efficiently sent to their respective polling stations. Police Observer inspects Security Arrangements in Pulwama, Pampore

PULWAMA: Police Observer, Akhilesh Kumar visited the Pulwama and Pampore constituencies today as part of election preparedness for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections 2024.

During his visit, the Observer inspected several Static Surveillance Team (SST) checkpoints at key locations within Pulwama, ensuring that all arrangements are in place to maintain security and vigilance during the election period.

Additionally, Kumar reviewed the accommodation facilities arranged for security forces deployed in the area. He also held a meeting with officials from the Border Security Force (BSF) to discuss coordination and further steps to guarantee a smooth and secure electoral process in the region. 3rd Inspection of Expenditure Registers conducted at Shopian

SHOPIAN: The third inspection of expenditure registers of contesting candidates for the 36-Zainapora and 37-Shopian constituencies was conducted today at the Circuit House Shopian.

The inspection was overseen by Expenditure Observer, Nelapatla Ashok Babu accompanied by Nodal Officer Expenditure, Muzaffar Ahmad Rather and Assistant Expenditure Observers (AEOs).

During the exercise, the expenditure registers of all contesting candidates were carefully examined and validated. The Expenditure Observer reiterated the need for candidates to maintain accurate and up-to-date expenditure records, stressing that all expenses must be duly recorded in their registers and progressive expenditure be entered in registers.

He directed the candidates and their authorised agents that the expenditure monitoring and inspection process will not end but will continue even after the election results.

The Observer again reminded the candidates and their agents the importance of maintaining the correct accounts of expenditure booked and the upkeep of supporting documents such as bills, vouchers, and invoices on hand for final reconciliation of their accounts.

He reassured the candidates that the expenditure monitoring process is not only an essential part of ensuring fairness but also to ensure level playing field for the candidates in fray.

Nodal Officer Expenditure Muzaffar Ahmad Rather provided a comprehensive briefing on the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India regarding expenditure management, ensuring all candidates are aligned with the rules.

The Contesting Candidates appreciated the efforts of the whole expenditure monitoring team and expressed full satisfaction over their guidance during the entire process.

Election Expenditure Observer conducts extensive Visit to Zainapora, Shopian Assembly Segments

SHOPIAN: In an effort to ensure free and fair elections, the Election Expenditure Observer conducted a comprehensive visit to various locations across the legislative assembly segments of 36-Zainapora and 37-Shopian.

The Observer checked forest nakas, police nakas, and SST nakas to assess the readiness and effectiveness of seizing of illegal cash, illicit liquor, drugs, narcotics and gifts/ freebies which may be used for inducement of voters.

During the visit, the observer held a detailed discussion with the VST team at Batpora, urging them to heighten their vigilance as polling day approaches. The observer then proceeded to Keegam Forest Naka, where he emphasized the importance of scrutinizing vehicles for illegal timber to maintain a fair electoral process.

At Chitragam, the observer instructed the police naka officials to be proactive in observing illegal activities for inducement of voters during the approaching crucial days before polling, ensuring that law enforcement plays a critical role in upholding election fairness.

At Aglar, the police party received directives from the Expenditure Observer to prevent the movement of illicit drugs, liquor and cash with a clear mandate for immediate action if any violations were noticed. The same directions were imparted to the SST teams at Babapora and Wachi also. This extensive visit underscores the commitment of election authorities to maintaining the highest standards of free and fair poll.

SHOPIAN: The District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem today visited the Polling Staff Training Centre at the GDC Shopian to oversee the training sessions held for the polling personnel.

The sessions included briefings and demonstrations on EVM management and operations, conducting of mock polls and other related pre poll and poll days activities. The master trainers highlighted the critical role of polling staff in upholding the credibility of the election.

The training, organised by Nodal Officer, Trainings was attended by all Polling staff including Presiding Officers, P1, P2, and P3 who were being trained on their specific roles and duties ahead of the upcoming General Assembly Elections.

During the orientation, the DEO stressed the importance of adherence to the ECI guidelines, ensuring that the polling staff are fully prepared for their responsibilities on both pre-poll and poll day.

The DEO directed the officers to work in close coordination with their Sector Magistrates to see the impactful culmination of elections. He further urged the polling staff to maintain professionalism and impartiality throughout the election process, underscoring the importance of protecting the integrity of the election.

SVEEP Awareness program organized in AC Rajpora, Pulwama

PULWAMA: In an effort to encourage maximum voter participation in the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections 2024, a comprehensive SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) awareness program was conducted in the Namlan Shadimarg zone of Assembly Constituency Rajpora.

The program focused on educating the public about the importance of exercising their voting rights and ensuring informed and ethical voting. A large number of locals, including youth, women and first-time voters, attended the event.

PULWAMA: In line with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the directives of the District Administration, Pulwama, a mega SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) event was successfully organized today at Block Headquarters Tral.

The program saw active participation from officers and officials of the Rural Development Department (RDD), the Social Forestry Department and the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of the area. Local residents also took part in large numbers, contributing to the event’s success.

Udhampur: Dogri SVEEP song inspires voter participation

UDHAMPUR: District Election Officer, Saloni Rai, today released a Dogri SVEEP song "Vote Sare Pana" in presence of SDM Ramnagar Rafiq Ahmad Jaral here in Mini Conference Hall DC Office Complex.

The song sung by young duo Singers Primta Rajput and Tamana Rajput has been composed to inspire voters across the district to exercise  democratic right by casting their votes in the Assembly Elections.

The song has been conceived by Rafiq Ahmad Jaral, Returning Officer for the 62-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency and Sub-Divisional Magistrate  Ramnagar.

The DEO appreciated young performers, who are also first time voters, the SDM Ramnagar and the District Election Cell for reaching every segment of society through various outreach initiatives under the SVEEP program. While appreciating the lyrics and resonating message to the voters by the young singers, she said that the song will not only aware the women voters but also young voters.

BHADERWAH: General Observer for Assembly Constituency Bhaderwah Mallikarjun today convened a meeting with the political leaders and representatives of various political parties to discuss the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and other guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India for the upcoming Assembly Election 2024. Returning Officer (RO) Sunil Kumar and other government functionaries associated with Election process were also present.

DEO launches 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' drive to promote Green Election initiative

POONCH:  In a unique initiative, District Election Officer (DEO) Poonch Vikas Kundal on Sunday launched "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" tree plantation drive, linking it with the Green Sweep campaign and Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).

The DEO planted a tree at Deena Nath Rafiq Memorial Higher Secondary School, marking the beginning of the campaign. The initiative aims to promote environmental responsibility and encourage citizens to vote. It is pertinent to mention here that Several polling stations in Haveli, Mendhar, and Surankote assembly constituencies have been designated as Green Polling Stations.

"The 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative honors our mothers and contributes to a sustainable future," said DEO Poonch. "We urge everyone to participate and make our polling stations eco-friendly." The Green Polling Stations will feature eco-friendly voting material, efficient waste management, and tree plantation drives, accompanied by environmental awareness campaigns.

Massive Seizures, Cannabis Destruction conducted in Poonch District

POONCH: In a major crackdown on electoral malpractices, the District Election Authorities (DEA), under the aegis of Vikas Kundal, District Election Officer (DEO) Poonch, has made significant seizures of cash, drugs, liquor, and kerosene across the district Poonch. These measures are part of the ECI's rigorous efforts to curb illegal methods used to influence voters during the ongoing Assembly elections.

Additionally, the district police have carried out a large-scale destruction drive targeting cannabis plantations, marking another crucial step toward ensuring a free and fair electoral process. During the operations, the DEA seized Rs. 2, 82,090 in cash, 12.28 grams of heroin worth Rs. 90,000, 261 bottles of liquor valued at Rs. 80,000, and 380 liters of kerosene and raw material worth Rs. 35,000.

In a separate operation, the Poonch District Police, in collaboration with Flying Squads (FSTs), conducted a destruction drive of cannabis plants at 43 locations in Surankote, Poonch, and Mendhar, resulting in the eradication of 342 kilograms of cannabis, valued at Rs. 23.4 lakhs.

Election Expenditure Observer for Poonch, Bharat Ramchandra Andhale,  praised the proactive role of the police and election officials in curbing electoral fraud and ensuring transparency. Furthermore, strict vigilance is being maintained across the district to detect and prevent any attempts to use illegal means to sway voters.

With heightened monitoring of suspicious activities and swift action from law enforcement agencies, the goal remains to conduct free, fair, and impartial elections in Poonch, ensuring the public's faith in the democratic process is upheld.

Consequent to the seizures and destruction drives, the Poonch District Police have registered cases under relevant sections of the law, including the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Excise Act, and other applicable statutes.

The police have taken swift action, registering FIRs and arresting individuals involved in the illicit activities. Further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other accused persons.

DEO visits remote Paddal Polling Station to promote voter awareness

SAMBA: To encourage voter participation, District Election Officer (DEO) Samba, Rajesh Sharma, along with a team of officials, visited Paddal Polling Station to host a Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation event. The polling station is located in a remote village across the Devika River and accessible through a challenging trek. Accompanying the DEO were SSP Vinay Kumar; ADC Jagdish Singh; SVEEP Nodal Officer Ekshu Sharma and other government functionaries.

During the visit, DEO Rajesh Sharma and SSP Vinay Sharma interacted with the residents of the remote village, motivating them to actively participate in the electoral process and exercise their right to vote in the upcoming General Assembly Elections scheduled on 1st October 2024. The DEO stressed the importance of every vote and the role of citizens in shaping the future of the state.

In addition to inspecting the polling station, the DEO visited the Middle School Paddal, where he interacted with teachers and students, emphasizing the value of education in fostering informed and responsible citizenship. He also inspected the Health and Wellness Centre in the village to take stock of the healthcare facilities being provided to the residents.

This visit forms part of the larger SVEEP campaign, which is focused on raising awareness and ensuring the highest possible voter turnout, particularly in remote and far-flung areas of the district.

RO 48-Inderwal takes BLO on board to ensure readiness for smooth, free, and fair polling as Election Day nears

KISHTWAR: As the polling day approaches, the election machinery in Kishtwar has reinforced its efforts to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place for a smooth, free, and fair election process. In this regard, an online meeting was organized by Returning Officer (RO) for 48-Inderwal Constituency, Idrees Ahmed Lone with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of the constituency.

The meeting focused on critical topics, including Home Voting and the SVEEP campaign aimed at achieving 100% voter turnout. During the meeting, RO reviewed the current status of poll arrangements and emphasized the need for cleanliness and readiness at polling stations.

He stressed the importance of 100% distribution of voter information slips to the voters of each ward, a key responsibility of the BLOs. Further, the RO highlighted the role of BLOs as ground-level facilitators, offering vital instructions to ensure that polling arrangements are smoothly executed at all stations.

Special focus was placed on voter guidance during elections and the implementation of 100% webcasting at each polling station on polling day. Reiterating the crucial role of BLOs, Mr Lone called for enhanced coordination among all stakeholders to achieve 100% voter turnout in the 48-Inderwal Assembly Constituency.

The meeting concluded with BLOs receiving actionable directives to fine-tune their preparations as the constituency heads toward a seamless and successful election.

Training for Micro Observers held at Bhaderwah

BHADERWAH: In preparation for the upcoming Assembly Election 2024, a training program for Micro Observers of Assembly Constituency (AC) 51 Bhaderwah was organized here at Dak Bungalow.

In all, 75 Micro Observers are being trained to oversee 196 polling stations in different parts of the constituency, ensuring that the election process is carried out efficiently and in accordance with the Election Commission of India’s guidelines.

The training session was led by Dr. Akhter Hussain Akhoon, District Nodal Officer for Trainings and Human Resources, who delivered a comprehensive presentation. He covered essential guidance on election procedures, the role of Micro Observers in maintaining transparency, and the correct handling of election materials, including Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) systems. The session aimed to equip the Micro Observers with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure smooth conduct on Election Day.

Present at the event was General Observer Mallikarjun, overseeing the training for AC-51 Bhaderwah. The Nodal Officer for Micro Observers and the Liaison Officer from R&B Bhaderwah were also in attendance, reinforcing the importance of coordination between different departments to ensure a fair and transparent election.

A similar SVEEP logo balloon was released in the sky at Khellani and Bhaderwah to create awareness among voters and encourage them to participate in the election campaign.

A bike rally, flagged off by DEO Harvinder Singh, was a key attraction of the event. Singh himself led the rally on a motorbike, accompanied by SSP and a large group of bikers. The rally commenced from the DC Office Complex and concluded at Gatha Resort Park, Bhaderwah, adding excitement and commitment to the awareness campaign. The rally aimed to draw attention to the importance of voter participation and encourage citizens to actively engage in the electoral process.

The SVEEP Festival continued at Gatha Park, Bhaderwah, where a series of events unfolded with enthusiastic participation from students, officials, and the public. Highlights included a Nukkad Natak on voter awareness performed by students from Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Doda and a cultural presentation featuring Gojri and Sarazi dances. The festival also included a mock polling booth demonstration aimed at educating the public on the voting process.

The day-long event concluded with large-scale participation, showcasing the collaborative efforts of the district administration, election officials, and local communities to spread electoral awareness.

General Observer mobilizes Micro Observers for transparent Assembly Elections in Ramban

RAMBAN: As part of ongoing efforts to ensure free, fair, and transparent Assembly Elections in District Ramban, General Observer Himanshu Kumar Rai today chaired a crucial meeting with Micro Observers here in the Conference Hall. The meeting aimed to brief them on their roles and responsibilities for the upcoming elections.

Speaking at the meeting, the General Observer emphasized the critical role that Micro Observers will play on polling day. "Micro Observers will be deployed across different polling stations, and their presence will be vital in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process," he said. He stressed the importance of their duties in ensuring that voting is conducted freely, fairly, and peacefully.

The Micro Observers were informed about the procedures they must follow and were urged to act as representatives of the General Observer, reporting any discrepancies or issues in a timely and accurate manner. "You must ensure that every step is taken to uphold the transparency and fairness of the election. Your reports will be key to this effort," he added.

Dy. District Election Officer, Abdul Jabbar, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the significance of the Micro Observers' role in safeguarding the credibility of the election. He assured them of full support from the district administration and election authorities. The meeting concluded with the General Observer assuring the Micro Observers of full cooperation and guidance throughout the election process.

SVEEP: Nukkad Natak promotes electoral awareness in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR: As part of the preparations for the upcoming General Election to the Legislative Assembly 2024, a series of Nukkad Nataks (street plays) were organized at prominent places of   Kishtwar under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) awareness campaign.

The events, held at prominent locations such as General Bus Stand and Chowgan Ground in Kishtwar, were conducted under the leadership of District Election Officer, Rajesh Kumar Shavan. The street performances were expertly coordinated by Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, District Nodal Officer SVEEP, with enthusiastic participation from the Sangam Theatre Group.

Through captivating street performances, the Sangam group artists effectively communicated the significance of ethical voting to the local populace, stressing the principles of responsible and informed voting. The messages resonated with audiences, encouraging active and fair participation in the upcoming elections.

This initiative is part of a broader SVEEP campaign being conducted throughout the district to ensure maximum voter engagement. The District Administration of Kishtwar is steadfast in its efforts to uphold electoral integrity and promote active civic participation.

Significant improvement made in infrastructure upgradation across polling stations of Shopian

SHOPIAN: In order to ensure optimal Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) across the polling stations of the district, as mandated by Election Commission of India (ECI), significant improvements in infrastructure development have been made by District Administration, Shopian.

The improvements have been made at various polling stations following the visit and corresponding observations of General Observer, Shopian AC, Roohi Khan to these polling stations and upon the instructions of DEO Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar.

During the inspection, the Observer had observed the need for improvements with particular focus on the significance of maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in and around the polling stations. Upon the directions of DEO Shopian, local administration swung into swift action and made the required upgrades in record time.

Installation of permanent signages, repairs of roads and ramps, construction of pathways, shades, water points, boundary walls, at these polling stations among other facilities was made, to improve accessibility of voters and polling staff alike with particular focus on facilitation of PwDs and old aged voters.

These polling stations where improvements were made include Nazneenpora, Nagbal, Zampathri, Dunaroo, Berthipora A, Batmuran, Nasarpora, Mastpora,Wanpora among others.

With enhanced facilities and a commitment to voter comfort, the residents of Shopian look forward to a positive, well-organized electoral experience, further encouraging active participation in the democratic process.

SHOPIAN: On day two of Postal Voting, the voting continued today at Voter Facilitation Centres of Zainapora AC and Shopian AC at GDC Shopian and at Postal Voting Centres at Mini Secretariat, Shopian, enabling staff on election duty and essential services staff to cast their votes in a very conducive and enabling environment.

The facility was made available as per ECI guidelines by the District Election Officer, Shopian for staff deployed for election duties and essential services staff to cast their vote at Voter Facilitation Centres (VFCs) and Postal Voting Centres (PVCs) respectively, established for both AC- Shopian and Zainapora.

375 voters from polling parties, drivers, conductors of transport, Micro- Observers, media etc voted while as 179 essential services staff belonging to Police, Health, Jal Shakti, Transport, Fire and Emergency, Municipal Council voted till date. The voting shall continue till tomorrow at these centres under strict vigilance of Observer, DEO and ROs with proper videography of events.

Mega SVEEP Awareness program organized at Shopian

SHOPIAN: To enhance voter awareness and boost electoral participation ahead of the Assembly Elections 2024, a comprehensive SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) awareness programme was held today at the Mini Secretariat, Shopian.

The District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem, presided over the programme and emphasized the crucial role of SVEEP in fostering democracy.

He highlighted the responsibilities of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), asking them to strengthen voter participation by actively mobilizing voters in their areas, emphasizing the importance of electoral literacy, and communicating why every vote is vital for shaping the future of the district and the nation.

He also issued special directives for BLOs to work diligently viz a viz facilitation to voters especially motivating first time voters and helping the polling parties with lodging and boarding.

Additionally, he instructed them to collaborate with Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, and Village Level Workers (VLWs) effectively to support polling staff on pre and poll day.

The programme also featured a vibrant cultural event organized by local artists, whose performances underscored the significance of voting in a democracy. The cultural event not only entertained the attendees but also served as a dynamic platform for spreading the message of active electoral participation and civic responsibility.

The SVEEP programme concluded with a strong appeal to the public to engage actively in the upcoming elections, reaffirming that every vote contributes to the shaping of the district’s future.
