JAMMU: Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, the Department of Hindi and Other Indian Languages at Central University of Jammu held a special lecture on "Ramvilas Sharma's Critical Perspective" as part of its ongoing lecture series. The event was conducted online and featured Prof. Jayant Kar Sharma, a retired professor from Sambalpur University and former Registrar of Odisha Open University.
In his lecture, Prof. Sharma described Ramvilas Sharma's critical approach as harmonizing and emphasized that he should not be seen strictly as a Marxist critic. He highlighted that Ramvilas Sharma's favorite poet was Nirala, who regarded him as an exceptional critic. Prof. Sharma explained that Ramvilas Sharma's critical vision was rooted in Indian cultural values and that he adapted marxist principles to fit the Indian context. He also shed light on Ramvilas Sharma's comprehensive critical perspective through his works, including Aastha Aur Saundarya, Parampara Ka Mulyankan, and Nirala Ki Sahitya Sadhana.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by coordinators Dr. Shashikant Mishra and Dr. Vandana Sharma, and concluded with a vote of thanks from the Head of the Department, Prof. Bharat Bhushan. Faculty members, research scholars, and students from the department attended the lecture.
