KATHUA: The Department of Civil Engineering, UIET, Kathua Campus (JU) organized an enriching educational field visit to Megha Engineering Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL), Chadwal. The students from the B.Tech 3rd, 5th, and 7th semesters participated in this visit. This hands-on learning experience aimed to provide students with practical exposure to modern construction techniques and real-world civil engineering practices. During the visit, students had the opportunity to observe the ongoing construction work on the prestigious Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway. They were introduced to innovative construction methodologies and techniques that play a pivotal role in large-scale infrastructure projects.
During the visit, the professionals at MEIL provided students with an in-depth overview of the company's infrastructure, operations, and ongoing projects and also conducted an interactive Q&A session. The students were enabled to connect theoretical knowledge to on-ground realities. This industrial visit also served as a great insightful experience for students as they learned about teamwork, project timelines, and resource management.
The visit was enriched by interactions and discussions with Er. Ranjith Kumar, Er. Sanjeev Langeh (Deputy Managers at MEIL Pvt. Ltd) and Er. Emineni Kiran Babu, Er.Shubam (Senior Engineers at MEIL Pvt. Ltd). They shared their extensive knowledge and insights with the students, emphasizing the significance of adopting cutting-edge technologies and efficient project management strategies in civil engineering. They also discussed the challenges faced in the field and the innovative solutions adopted to overcome them, inspiring students to think critically and creatively about their future roles in the industry.
Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus (JU), highlighted the importance of such field visits in bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical application. He added that such initiatives are aimed to provide students with practical exposure to advanced construction practices and their applications in large-scale infrastructure projects. He further stressed that practical exposure is an integral part of engineering education and by witnessing advanced construction technologies firsthand, students not only broaden their technical knowledge but also develop a deeper understanding of the skills required in the field. He encouraged students to actively engage in these opportunities, emphasizing the critical role civil engineers play in nation-building and societal development.
Dr. Rockey Gupta, I/c Principal, UIET, expressed gratitude to MEIL Pvt. Ltd. for facilitating the visit and providing an interactive platform for the students. He reiterated the value of learning from real-world experiences, urging students to harness such practical knowledge to enhance their technical skills and career prospects.
