BARAMULLA: In a determined move to enhance road safety and ensure adherence to traffic regulations, the team of Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Baramulla conducted a special enforcement drive during the past week. During the drive, over 300 vehicles were checked across various locations in the district. Out of these, more than 110 vehicles were found violating provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules.

The enforcement teams issued 95 e-challans on the spot, while 6 drivers were served notices recommending suspension of their driving licences. Additionally, 8 vehicles were blacklisted on the VAHAN portal for repeated offences. The total fine amount from the e-challans issued during the drive is expected to exceed Rs 2 lakh.

The drive was carried out under the supervision of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Baramulla, Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi and will continue in the coming days to ensure strict enforcement of road safety norms and compliance with legal provisions.

The MVD has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting safe and responsible driving, urging motorists to follow traffic regulations and contribute to creating a safer road environment across the district.
