SHOPIAN: On the directions of District Administration Shopian, in response to the detection of four jaundice cases in Check Saidpora area of District Shopian, health and Jal Shakti Departments have launched a comprehensive health surveillance and sanitation drive to prevent further spread of the infection.

Teams from the Health Department in coordination with officials of the Jal Shakti Department have initiated intensive field inspections to identify suspected cases and assess hygiene conditions.

Drinking water samples have been collected from multiple locations in the area for laboratory analysis to ascertain the quality of water being supplied to households. Jal Shakti Department has intensified chlorination and flushing of supply lines in the locality.

Meanwhile, the Health Department has started an extensive awareness campaign advising residents to consume boiled drinking water, maintain personal hygiene and avoid consumption of uncovered food. A medical team has visited today to ascertain the health scenario and extend the assistance and treatment to the local people.

The people have been advised to take precautionary measures and to report any new suspected cases promptly. The District Administration has assured that all necessary steps are being taken to safeguard public health. Continuous surveillance will be maintained in the area.
