SRINAGAR: President of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Tuesday expressed deep condolences on the demise of senior journalist and Bureau Chief of The Week, Tariq Ahmad Bhat, who passed away on Monday following a cardiac arrest in Srinagar.

In his condolence message, Hakeem Yaseen described Tariq Ahmad Bhat as an honest, upright, and dedicated journalist who upheld the highest standards of professionalism throughout his career. He said that Tariq’s death is a great loss to the journalistic fraternity in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Tariq Ahmad Bhat was known for his integrity and commitment to truthful reporting. His balanced and insightful journalism earned him respect across media circles and beyond,” Yaseen said, extending sympathies to the bereaved family and colleagues.

Bhat was a respected and principled journalist, known for his integrity, dedication, and balanced reporting. His contribution to the field of journalism and his commitment to truth and ethics will be long remembered," Hakeem said.

"May Almighty grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss," he added. Bhat was a respected voice in journalism, widely admired for his integrity, dedication, and clarity of thought. With decades of experience in the field, he contributed significantly to responsible journalism in the region.

Colleagues and members of the media fraternity expressed deep sorrow over his untimely demise, describing him as a humble and principled professional whose loss will be deeply felt across the media landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
