KATRA: To commemorate the 150thbirth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the NSS and NCC units of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, organized a “Run for Unity” in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Police. The event aimed to promote the spirit of national integration, unity, and fitness among students and the local community.

The run was flagged off by Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, along with the Superintendent of Police, Katra. Both dignitaries appreciated the initiative and commended the efforts of the organizing team for successfully conducting the event.A large number of students, faculty members, and staff participated in the run with great enthusiasm, holding banners and slogans promoting the spirit of oneness and patriotism.

All participants also took the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” oath, pledging to uphold the spirit of unity, integrity, and security of the nation.Prof. R.K. Mishra, Dean of Students’ Welfare, appreciated the students for their active participation and encouraged them to continue engaging in activities that foster community spirit and patriotism. Dr. Varun Dutta, NCC Coordinator, and Dr. Rajiv Kumar, NSS Coordinator, expressed gratitude to the J&K Police and University administration for their constant support in organizing such initiatives. The event concluded with a message highlighting the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Iron Man of India,” whose efforts laid the foundation of a united and strong nation.
