JAMMU: Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu, Anil Gupta today inspected the Department’s display stall established at the 10 day historic Jhiri Mela, inaugurated today.

 During the inspection, Anil Gupta took a detailed tour of the departmental exhibition area and assessed the displays highlighting the government schemes, latest farming techniques and innovations being implemented by the department for the welfare of farmers. He interacted with the officers, field functionaries and staff members.

The officials briefed him on the thematic exhibits showcasing organic and natural farming, GI-tagged products, mushroom cultivation, integrated pest management, bee keeping, protected cultivation, soil health management and agricultural machinery. The interventions form part of Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) and Kisan Khidmat Ghar (KKG).

Speaking on the occasion, the Director Agriculture emphasized the importance of such exhibitions in spreading awareness among the farming community about the latest government initiatives and technological advancements in agriculture. He said, “Jhiri Mela is one of the largest rural gatherings in the region, providing a valuable platform for direct interaction with farmers. Through these stalls, we aim to disseminate knowledge on sustainable agricultural practices and encourage farmers to adopt scientific methods for enhanced productivity and profitability.”

Anil Gupta further directed the officers to ensure that the stall remains informative and farmer-friendly throughout the mela period. He instructed that interactive sessions, live demonstrations and on-the-spot guidance be provided to visiting farmers regarding soil testing, crop diversification, integrated farming systems and various centrally sponsored schemes such as PM-Kisan, PM Fasal Bima Yojana and Kisan Credit Card (KCC).

The Agriculture Department’s stall is expected to attract large numbers of farmers, students and visitors throughout the mela period, offering practical insights into modern farming techniques and government welfare programmes.
