• If elections do not begin within the stipulated time, the Adhoc Committee will stand dissolved

SRINAGAR: A crucial meeting of the Executive Members, District Presidents, and Zonal Representatives of the Private Schools Association of Jammu & Kashmir (PSAJK) was held in Srinagar under the chairmanship of PSAJK State Vice President Manzoor Ahmad.

The meeting was convened to assess the functioning and progress of the current Adhoc Committee and to deliberate upon the delay in initiating the constitutionally mandated election process. Members expressed serious concern that despite nearly a month without any formal progress, the election process entrusted solely to the Adhoc President has not formally commenced.

After detailed discussions, the Executive Members, District Presidents, Zonal Presidents and general members unanimously passed the following resolution:  The Executive Council had given the Adhoc President a limited and clear mandate to conduct free and fair elections at all levels within three (03) months, strictly in accordance with the PSAJK Constitution.

Members noted with concern that: No concrete steps have been taken to initiate the election process, Several committees have been created unnecessarily despite elections being the top priority, Individuals not associated with PSAJK have been included in some committees, raising questions on transparency and legitimacy, The abrupt cancellation of a scheduled meeting without proper justification has further created doubt and apprehension regarding collective decision-making.

The election process must begin within one week from the issuance of this resolution. The elections shall be conducted strictly as per the Constitution and under the supervision of authorised State Executive Council Members, The Adhoc President is duty-bound to carry out the mandate conferred by the Executive Council. Any deviation, refusal or deliberate delay will be treated as non-compliance.

If the election process is not initiated within the stipulated time: The current Adhoc Committee will automatically stand dissolved and A fresh committee comprising State Executive Members, District Presidents, and Zonal Representatives will take charge to ensure impartial and timely elections. Members reaffirmed their commitment to democracy, transparency, unity and accountability, stating that no individual or group will be allowed to compromise the democratic spirit or organisational structure of PSAJK.

The meeting was attended by a large number of office bearers and representatives from across Jammu & Kashmir, including: Majid Bhat (Central Kashmir President), Mohammad Syed Wani (District President Anantnag), Bilal Ahmad Bhat (District President Srinagar), Waseem Sidiq (District President Kulgam), Dr. Sheikh Arshid (District President Pulwama), Dr. Yassir Ramzan (District President Bandipora), G.M. Mughal (Kupwara Zone Sogam), Akhtar Salafi (Zonal President Lolab), Abdul Majeed Shaheen (Spokesperson Lolab), Bilal Ahmad Baba (Zonal President Kangan), Subzar Ahmad Bhat (Zonal President H.C. Gam), Riyaz Ahmad (Executive Member Kulgam), Khaleel Ahmad (Executive Member Shopian), Arshad Hussain Bhat (General Secretary Kulgam), Farooq Ahmad (Zonal Coordinator Anantnag), Aarif Hussain (Zonal President Anantnag), Khursheed Ahmad (Zonal President Yaripora), Altaf Hussain Khan (Zonal President), Showkat Rashid (Zonal President Ganderbal), Mohammad Ashraf (Zonal President Srinagar), Imtiyaz Rasool (District Member Bandipora), Irshad Ahmad Shah (Zonal President Keegam), Er. Muneer-ul-Irfan (Joint Secretary Lolab), Ajaz Ahmad Wani (Zonal President Achabal), Tasaduq Ahmad (Zonal President Shangus), Mohammad Shafi, Mohammad Ashraf, Bilal Sarwar, Mudasir Ahmad, Fayaz Ahmad Khan (Members) etc.

The meeting concluded with the unanimous adoption of the resolution. All members reiterated that PSAJK is a democratic institution whose strength lies in collective decision-making, transparency and accountability.

Members emphasized that the Association cannot be allowed to drift into uncertainty or be driven by individual interests. They resolved to protect the constitutional framework, uphold organisational discipline and ensure that the election process is carried out in a fair, transparent and time-bound manner.

They reaffirmed that PSAJK will continue working for the welfare of students, teachers, non-teaching staff & schools across Jammu & Kashmir and that any attempt to compromise or delay the election process will be firmly challenged.
